How do I prevent SQL Server 2000 from posting successful backup
completion messages to the Windows 2000 Application Event Log?
I have scheduled jobs which backup my transaction logs on 50+ databases
and it always writes to the Windows 2000 application event log upon
completion.
Due to the frequency of the jobs it only takes a day for the
Application Log to fill up, which is causing other jobs to get hung up

I have seven huge fixed width text file that I need to import to Access.
They contain headers, subtotals, etc. that are not needed. There is also
some corrupt data that we know about and can correct once the data is in
Access (or during the import process itself). Furthermore, the text files
are poorly set up, such that some records may be "shifted" over a few
characters, and therefore the fixed width nature of the file is corrupted.

I'm restarting this thread with a different focus.

Is there a way to set a custom property on Access tables and/or queries to
prevent them from being overwritten by import wizards? Any Access database
can be easily destroyed if a user mistakenly imports an object (or Excel
spreadsheet) with the same name as an existing table or query.

I have a customer table and another table that I need to prepopulate
with special customer IDs, unique and not sequential. Is there a way to
configure Access to assign the customer ID to every record each time
that a record is either created for the first time or imported for the
first time? I would be importing into a temp table and then running an
update query to copy the data to the customer table. Another confusing

Peeked around here but didn't really see an explanation as to the
varied "Invalid Argument" errors that appear in Access sometimes. I'm
using Access 2003 and trying to import an Access table of ~200,000
records into my DB. I've tried importing, linking, exporting the
original table to txt and importing or linking to that. Then I tried
exporting the table to it's own DB (which worked) but still cant then
import or link to the DB I'm using....

Is there a way with MS Access 2002 and above to prevent people
importing from a blank Database the tables in another database? I
have done a lot of searches but there isn't really a solution that
will work for me. Would someone explain how to build a RWOP Query in
2002 and what it does exactly? I can prevent an access to a query,
but, what if people just tap into your table, and bypass your query?

I'm using TransferSpreadsheet to import an Excel file in to MS Access
2003.

One of the columns in the Excel file is a number formatted field, but
