Strange ODBC connection errors connecting to SQL Server

Hi all, hopefully someone can provide some advice.

I have an access application that uses SQL Server 2005 to serve data
via a DSN and linked tables. The front end runs on a Citrix server.

I created the DSN and it tested correctly. If I open the database on
the Citrix server I can open the tables and view/edit/insert data just
fine.

However, intermittantly I get a server doesn't exist or access denied
when opening simple recordsets in VBA. So I debug my SQL string in
the code and copy it to a new query and it works fine. But I get
either the Server does not exist or access is denied when attempting
to open the recordset or occaisionally I get the PreHandshake error or
General Network Issue error.

The application is over 10 years old and in use with a variety of
clients and works fine. I'm wondering if it's the Citrix platform
they are running it on. Authentication problems from Citrix perhaps?

If anyone has experience running Access apps on Citrix I'd love some
advice.

Dear group, we are dealing with some very specific problems with ODBC, where a connection from SQL-Server to Mysql works with ODBC-driver 3.51.10.00 and does NOT work with ODBC-driver 3.51.11.00. Maybe someone experiences similar problems or even has a solution ? Some feedback (to the group) would be highly appreciated. We use a...

Hi all, I've got users with an ODBC connection to a SQL Server database. The problem is that once users get that ODBC Connection from their network administrator, they can access any table and potentially delete any data. It's wide open. I know I can tighten security through SQL Server, but what I'd like to do is use an existing Access...

The database runs well most of the time but if the users dont use the database for a period of time (approx 10 minutes) and return to it then the connection hangs. When they try to perform any action that requires a connection to the SQL Server database...

Hello I have posted to this group as it seems to be a lot busier than the odbc specific ones. If you can suggest a more appropriate group I will post it there. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. For...
