Recommendations for using Access 2007 on Sharepoint

I am in a new position and looking at the possibility of using
Sharepoint for my database instead of the whole backend on the server,
frontend on the workstations route. Does anyone have websites or
other books they recommend? Any experiences? Roadblocks to avoid?
Limits in functionality?

Thanks in advance,
Laura

I have had huge issues with network speed before using the BE/FE
method. At my new job, this network seems very slow.

I just want you to make these big decisions for the right reasons. I
don't think "better performance" is why people use Sharepoint.

How will Access fair in a year? Two years? .... The new version of Access seems to service non programmers as a wizard interface to quickly create databases via a fancy wizard. Furthermore, why would you even continue to use Access as a backend when you have a much superior option in SQL express? What about as a future front-end development tool? Let's get serious. Microsoft continues to publish numerous articles and videos on how you...

I have an Intranet based on ASP.NET 2.0 using Webparts to give a similar experience to Sharepoint. This development was made as Sharepoint 2003 did not suit our needs and Sharepoint 2007 was not ready. Now that Sharepoint 2007 is ready (and being demo'd) I am getting questions regarding features available in the new Sharepoint that we do not currently have. I am reluctant to throw away the current Intranet and replace it with...

We can maintain SSO (single sign on) between SharePoint 2003 and a third party WebSSO provider. This is done by passing to the WebSSO provider the authenticated domain user name and password, then creating a user context with LogonUser, and returning control to the web server. IIS then passes the user context to SharePoint 2003 allowing us to maintain SSO. Unfortunately we can not do the same with SharePoint 2007. Calling LogonUser to...

We are developing an application that presents data to the user in a gridview and we are using the dropdown extender to give the user a SharePoint 2007 type dropdown menu attached to the cells of a given column. We are also using another dropdown menu that the user can use to select data using another quesry using the SelectedIndex change method. Upon initial page load everything works fine and the user is presented with a SharePoint type menu....

Ola all. In responding to a recent post requesting help with a search issue, I recommended using a combo box lookup in the table design. "paii, Ron" (no relation) posted this reply: " There are many posts in this group explaining the pitfalls of using the lookup feature in tables. Best practice appears to be, keep the lookup in the forms using combo box or list box."

This is taken from the "What's New in Access 2007" page. However, I've looked through all the properties of a text field memo box, and cannot find the append only option. Does anyone know how to use this feature? ------------------ "Memo fields are useful for storing large amounts of information. With Office Access 2007, you can set the Append Only property to retain a history of all changes to a Memo field. You can then view a history...

Can anyone share so insights as to anyone having successfully been able to upload an access database into SharePoint where the end users can alter, edit, deleted and save the information on the back end so that everyone else could see the changes made by others? The current SharePoint v2.0 allows me to upload a document and when I do it this way it will successfully take the whole database and even open it up in access but the problem we are...

I've created an Access 2007 application that has linked tables in a SharePoint 2007 site. Normally, after I open the app and access a form that uses one of these linked tables, you are prompted for a user name and password by SharePoint, which works fine. But sometimes, it won't automatically prompt you for a username and password, instead it will say there is a Network/IO error. What I am trying to do is make the application prompt you...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
