Access 2003 macro to delete a field & add a field to a table

34 New Member
Hello. I'm trying to create one macro in Access 2003 that will delete a field (called ID) in a table. I then need a separate macro that will *add* a field back in called ID w/type of autonumber. I was trying to use the Action of RunCommand, DeleteTableColu mn for the first macro but I'm not having luck...

Any help you can provide will be very appreciated.

Just curious, is there a reason why you couldn't just edit the table structure directly?

I use an Access database to basically take data exports, import them, manipulate the data, and then turn them into exportable reports. I do this using numerous macros, and queries to get the data in the format that I need it in order to create the reports that we use. So far this has proven to be successful for the reports that I am doing and the data that I am pulling into it. I just have one challenge that may require a lot of work and I...

Hello, I am spoiled coming from programming in word and excel which offer the "record macro" tool that eliminated most basic syntax confusions that I had. unfortunately msaccess doesn't offer that option, and my luck in the groups has yielded little results for manipulating tables via vb code in a form. Could anyone illustrate a few examples for me? 1.) How would I Modify a specific cell in a table called "Mytable?"

We are running an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. Our network guy is upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and wants to upgrade Office and SQL Server at the same time. We're moving to SQL Server 2005, and, since he already has licenses for Office Pro 2002, he wants to upgrade to that. I've been saying that we need to upgrade to Access 2003, not 2002, even if Office is kept at 2002. We are also looking to do a fair amount of...

All, I'm not sure how to adequately explain my problem in two sentences or less, so at the risk of providing TMI, here's the condensed verion. I have developed an Access 2002 database file that contains a form, multiple queries and multiple reports. The purpose of the form is to allow the user to run various queries against my company's Sybase server and display a report. Since the queries return ADO recordsets from the Sybase server,...

Hi there, I recently updated to Access 2007, and I'm getting a couple of errors that i'm not sure how to deal with. I worked with a lot of databases in Access 2003 (.mdb), and for some reason some of these databases will not open in access 2007. The errors I get say: "An error occured while loading 'Form_frm_tabstrip'. do you want to continue loading the project?" I can choose yes, no or help. On choosing yes, another message box...

My database must produces a .csv file with a header line that is different from the detail lines. This .csv file contains a monthly report to an outside agency and is uploaded online so it must follow specific guidelines. As usual, I think I have made the processing way more convoluted than necessary. Here is what I have currently: 1) Macro #1 runs query #1 to create (or overwrite) a table with the current month's header information....

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
