Avoiding Access Deletion confirmation messages

Hi again Guys,

I've manages to recreate some fairly cool (to me!) delete code to delete a record. However I'd like to stop the Access 'confirmation of delete' message from appearing. Is this possible?

Good to talk with y'all again.

Stop the Presses!

I'm sorry if I wasted anyone's time but I seem to have finally found the answer (set warnings).

I promise I DID search before I posted - just that more searching eventually got me there.

Thanks and talk with you again no doubt.

Glad you found the answer! Remember to always place the

DoCmd.SetWarnin gs False

***immediately* ** before the event and

DoCmd.SetWarnin gs True

***immediately* ** after the event.

Also, you need to realize that if your code errors out between these two points, the warnings will not be set back on! If there's any chance at all of a piece of code erroring out, you need to set the warnings back on in your error handling code for the sub.

Thankyou, Linq,

The additional notes have been a seriously good help, and probably prevented some fairly awful results.

Thanks again.

Hello, We are in the process of examining our current main application. We have to do some major changes and, in the process, are questionning/validating the use of MS Access as front-end. The application is relatively big: around 200 tables, 200 forms and sub-forms, 150 queries and 150 repports, 5GB of data (SQL Server 2000), 40 users. I'm wondering what are the disadvantages of using Access as front-end? Other that it's not...

Hello, I am having an issue when I try to automate Access. When working in the automated application, it seems that all warning messages have been disabled and error handling in reports doesn't work. For example, when I go to delete an object such as a form or report, I get no confirmation of any kind...it either works or it doesn't (doesn't work if I have the report open).

Hi, I have a gridview in my page, which displays all records from an sqldatasource. The delete row command is available to the user, through which he can perform deletion. I want to trap the gridview_RowDeleting event to display a confirmation msg to the user. Is there a msgbox kind of facility where I can get confirmation from the user before deletion?

I've come up against a major headache that I can't seem to find a solution for but I'm sure there must be a workaround and I would really be grateful of any help. I'm currently building a web site for a small club I belong to and one of the features I would like to include is the ability to allow users to upload image files. unfortunately the servers web root www folder only allows READ and EXECUTE permissions, which makes it...

Hi there everyone - I'm new to this forum. I am having an issue when running an application from an instance of Access which has been started through automation (early or late bound, makes no difference). No warning / confirmation messages are issued (eg. when running action queries, deleting records from a datasheet, deleting database objects such as tables).

Hello! I'm trying to execute a code so when a record in a DetailsView is deleted, it will first have to be confirmed (with as little code as possible). The DetailsView is attacked to an ObjectDataSource. I was thinking of having the ItemDeleting command 'intercept' the delete command and make a confirmation button visible on the screen, THEN when the person clicks the button the ObjectDataSource executes the delete command. My...

How do, For backing up my database(Access 2000), i am trying to just back up the tables and their data, as this will save on space and allow for importing back into the actual database. I want the data copied into a dated backup database so a specific restore can be performed and old backups arent lost. The vb code i have makes a new blank database and copies the data into tables through docmd.runSQL. Both aspects of the code work fine; the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
