Hello All,
I've checked around a little on Google (and this group) and have found
info similar to what I'm trying to do (i.e., changes that were made in
the BE's tables are not reflected in the FE database) and have heard
suggestions using code, etcetera. But I need a bit more clarification
please.
What I'm doing/have done is this (MS Access 2007, FE stored on WXP
clients, BE stored on a W2K3 server):
My database has been split. A copy of the FE is on each user PC, the
BE is stored in shared folder on the server.
I've had to (don't ask why please, its one of those things where
people don't spend enough time on their biz requirements up front and
instead rush to start using a database) add a new table to the
system.
I added it in the BE file, but when I run the FE, it's not showing up
(the other tables from the BE are showing as linked tables with the
arrows).
I've used the Linked Table Manager in the FE (which isn't available in
the BE), but only see the original set of tables from my BE, no
mention of the new table that I had to add to the BE.
Which brings me to my question, the new table is there in the BE, but
its now showing up in the FE's, how can this be accomplished? Is the
only way to do this via coding?

Open the FE. Click on Get External Data. Navigate to your BE and select the
missing table. Click Link. You should now see the missing table in your FE.

In the past I'd select File/GetExternalData/Line (or Import) from the
menubar. The linked table manager is useful to change the connection
string on files that have already been linked...say you have a test
backend and a production back end...you could change the tables you are
using in your application with the LinkedTableMana ger.
Hi,
Thanks for your help. What Steve suggested worked perfectly.
Cheers,
A.

I am looking for the easiest web interface to a database. By easiest,
I mean most rapid development. Because the requirements are so simple
and standard, I'm hoping that something can take care of the grunt
work. Easy maintenance, possibly by non-programmers (or at least
"junior" programmers) would also be nice.
I'm open to Perl, PHP, Java in that order (best solution wins, equal
solutions go with the preferred language). I'm also open...

Hello,
I'm pretty new to setting up databases, but so far I'm getting along
swimmingly. But I have one question. I'm setting up a database for a
client who wants to sell tickets to their theater online. There are a
LOT of different parameters and I'd like to set it up so that when a
client selects a play and date the price is automatically generated. I
have already figured out how to get what I want, but I believe there
is a better way,...

Hi,
I was curious, I am thinking of writing an application that loads a dataset
from a database that resides on a server. The question I have is this, if
multiple copies of the app will be running at once will there be problems
with data updates?
The reason I ask is I'm thinking like this:
User1 launches the app and the dataset is created from the data in the DB.

Hello everyone. I'm having problems with a page I've created that is used to insert data into a database.
It uploads two files into two distinct folder, and it takes the filenames and inserts them into a MYSQL database along with other product information.
Here is the entire .php file. I list it because the errors are not showing at all, and I need a fresh pair of eyes to look at it.
Any answers, critisims (constructive), or other talk...

I have a news website, with asp pages. It has publishing software which allows you to add articles in a database, and then calls them up from links etc. I have added dynamic meta tags in 2 parts. The first part is in the inc.header.asp file which is called up on every page. The page itself has the meta tag variable, ie. title, description. They work fine on all pages, except the one below i'm having problems with. Ironically it's the most...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
