Command button not showing on sub form Access 2007

3 New Member
Am trying to customise automation in Access 2007/Outlook.
Using MS template which works ok. However, I have the form set up as a subform an embedded in the main form Although the form works fine in isolation, it does not display its command button when viewed with main form.
I am fairly new to this stuff so clearly have done something stupid.
In addition, I want to be able to use the check box so that I don't have to add every entry to Outlook and also have Outlook updated on "enter/tab" at end of entry.

Is this possible

Cheers

Sorry no one responded to this sooner. We're all volunteers, of course, and and on heavy posting days, some questions simply go down the list until they're off the first page. Once or twice a week, depending on life, I cruise the "unanswered threads" listing, and so found this one!

The reason that the command button is missing when the form is displayed as a subform is that it's in Datasheet View, and this view doesn't display unbound objects, such as command buttons or unbound checkboxes, comboboxes textboxes, etc.

You can remedy this by changing the Default View property of the form to Continuous View, then tweak the formatting so that it looks like a Datasheet View.
I want to be able to use the check box so that I don't have to add every entry to Outlook and also have Outlook updated on "enter/tab" at end of entry.
I'm sorry, but this statement makes no sense at all, by itself. You always have to remember, when posting on a forum like this, that you can see your database, but we can't! You'll have to explain this problem more clearly in order for someone to help you.

Another possibility is, if you already have your subform in continuous view and the command button still doesnt show, then you may have the command button placed in the PAGE footer instead for the FORM footer. If this is the case, right click in the form and choose "view form footer" then place the command button in the FORM footer. hope this helps!

I'm a teacher using MS Access on an RMConnect 2.4 network. On some workstations both I and my students sometimes get an error message when attempting to insert a command button on a form which reads "Invalid use of null". The remainder of the options in the Command Button Wizard are then unavailable and the button wil not work. The only solution is to log on to a different workstation. Any ideas?

Is it possible to make command buttons in any color other than default gray? And can you change the text with code ? In other words instead of hard-coding the text on the button, can you display text which is 'situational' ? Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated !

A couple of easy questions here hopefully. I've been working on two different database projects which make use of multiple forms. 1. Where's the best/recommended placement for command buttons for things like delete, save, edit, cancel buttons - in the footer, or on the form detail section? 2. If in the footer, how do you add them to the tab order?

Several of my Access 2003 databases are exhibiting the same problem under Windows Vista. Charts in forms are not showing any data. Reports are not affected. Charts in reports display as they should. The chart object in forms appears but contains no data. It appears to be a screen painting problem because if I open a report or another form on top of the form that is not showing the chart, when the second report or form is closed, the...

Trying to install some software on Access 2007. The software works just fine on earlier versions of Access. I have been told that it works on Access 2007 but I have not seen that personally. The command buttons on my user-created forms do not function when it is run under Access 2007. The operating system is Windows XP home SP2.

I am working on a database that has a main menu, many sub-menus and some sub-sub-menus. They are all forms that have numerous command buttons on them to open forms and reports in the database. The database has hundreds of forms and reports. I was asked to go through all the menu forms and determine if all the buttons worked, if there were any problems when either the form or report opened and to come up with a list of the forms and reports...

A couple years ago, I built a database in MS Access 2003. I built the form using macros in some of the command buttons, and now I’m trying to eliminate the macros and just use visual basic code. I’ve been successful in doing this for most of the buttons, but I’m having trouble reprogramming some Apply Filter buttons on one form and could use some help. So I have a Contacts List form that lists all of the division’s staff members...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
