Overriding a formula in Access 2003

1 New Member
Is there a way to override a formula in Access 2003? 90% of the time the formula fits with what I am needing, however there are times when I need to put in a different amount than what the formula is giving me.

Thank you!

Depends on where you have your formula placed. If you have it, for instance, in the AfterUpdate events of textboxes that hold data used in the formulas, yes, you can enter another figure if you like, just like you can if you have a Default Value for a control and want to change it. If, on the other hand, your formula resides in the Control Source for the textbox, then no, you can't.

Perhaps if you'd tell us a little more about what you're trying to do we could give you more pointed advice.

Hi I have a main report and a sub report. I have a formula field on the main report and one on the sub report. I want the formula in the subreport to be evaluated after the formula in the main report. The sub report is called in the report header of the main report and the formula fields are in the details section of the reports. Main report looks something like this.

Right now I have a formula in the criteria of a query that tells it to pull data (from a datetime stamp field) with the date that is less than or equal to this Friday's date but I need it to not pull fields that are less than the previous Sunday's date. Here is what I have: <=DateAdd("d",6-Weekday(Date()),Date()) And >DateAdd("d",1-Weekday(Date()),Date()) The front part works for this coming Friday, but not for the Sunday part. Can anyone...

Crystal Report for Visual Studio.NET 2003. I have a formula that brings an error " .. A number is required here ... ". See the code snippet below which i have simplified. In the actual formula, the function NthLargest is being accessed in a loop hence the need to have the first parameter being a variable (pos): numberVar pos := 1; NthLargest (pos, {Table1.score}); This will throw an error " .. A number is required here ... ". If i...

The Object class has five non final methods namely equals, hashCode, toString, clone, and finalize. These were designed to be overridden according to specific general contracts. Other classes that make use of these methods assume that the methods obey these contracts so it is necessary to ensure that if your classes override these methods, they do so correctly. In this article I'll take a look at the equals and hashCode methods. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
