I have a hard time understanding why you want to "change" Access into a multiuser database.
Access does support multiple simultaneous users, although MS states a max of some 255 users, for getting no performance problems I would recommend no more as some 20 to 40.

Your explanation of your set-up is really quite unclear. Without an understanding of what you're trying to achieve it's impossible to give any help I'm afraid.

I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance problems. Details: - Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project ) - Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who creates the commands?) creates and noticed:

Hi, This might seem like a basic question but I have some doubts, please humour me. I have a client-server application using java where each client on each machine needs to directly communicate directly with the database. Do I need a separate db2 connect on each such machine. Please advice.

My Access 2002-application need to work with tables from both Oracle and Access. To solve this, I want to run some querys on three views in Oracle and import the results into temporary Access-tables. I have tried this: conn.Provider = "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" conn.ConnectionString = "data source=" & datafil & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=" conn.Open datafil

Hi, I'm an Access newbie and need to update an Access database from a web application. I'll need to add new records and also update existing ones. What I was thinking of doing is have my web app create a text file with Access SQL INSERT/UPDATE statements and get Access to import and execute this file. Is this possible?

Folks: We have a web-based app that's _really_ slowing down because multiple clients are writing their own private data into a single, central database. I guess the previous programmer did things this way because it made things easy. Well, I'm the person that has to put up with the long-term headache. Anywho, someone at work wants things sped up, so what I'm looking at doing is this for each client:

Dear reader, One table in database A...mdb is linked to a table in database B..mdb. As A..mdb is open and in B...mdb starts an excel import procedure the progress bar shows that the import procedure stops. After the A...mdb is closed the excel import procedure runs smoothly. The linked table in A..mdb is not the same table as used for the excel import procedure. Is there

Hi! I am trying to export only the visible columns from a datagridview in my windows form in VB 2008. Should't it be no comma after the first row where the headers are? Also should there be a comma at the last row?

Hi everyone, I am using Access 2003. I have a database with a table in it which is linked to an excel spreadsheet. When I install the database on someone else's system, the pathname to the excel file is different. Howwever, as it is in runtime on their system, I can't update the link using the Linked Table Manager. Is there a way of using a public constant to store a path which can be altered in advance and then combined with a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
