Export access form data to existing excel sheet

72 New Member
Hi,
I have the following code which works fine. It export current access form record to an excel sheet: DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputForm, "frmsubformtest ", acFormatXLS, "C:\Details.xls ", True

Is it posible to append data from this form to an existing template excel sheet that already have the same columns names.

thanks in advance.

This is a shot in the dark, but it may help. From my understanding the OutputTo command exports the form's recordsource (a query) in its entirety to an Excel sheet. Once you create the initial .xls, to append to it you could add it as a linked table and create an append query identical to the form's recordsource and run it when needed. If you only wanted to append new records, you might have to add a "New?" flag somewhere along the line and update that to false once the new records have been appended.

Good luck to you.

I have a user who has been using Excel for a while to keep statistics and print reports. She finds using it cumbersome because of long formulas and a lot of copying and pasting. I have designed a database for her which is intended to make things a lot easier; however, I don't have a lot of experience with Access and I find that designing the reports in Access is tedious. I want to be able to print the reports (which are simply based on...

Its great producing data for users to look at in your web pages and generally that is sufficient for their needs but sometimes you may want to supply your user with the data in a form they can actually do something more with. This code shows you how to display data from your database and then how to give that data to the user in the form of a useable Excel spreadsheet which they can then take away and play with themselves. The way I have shown...

I want to export a report (that contains two separate queries, 1. Current year data, and 2. split-year data) from access into excel, but everytime I run my code and export the data to excel, it looks like garbage. I have maximize and minimize buttons on the left side of the excel spreadsheet that I don't want. I want separate tabs on the bottom of the spreadsheet that show the two queries separately from one another. But I don't know how...

Hello all, I'm trying to transfer the value of a control on an Access form to an Excel worksheet using VBA. The Access form is a single form with all the controls disabled, so that data is "read only." I have a button on the form which opens the Excel worksheet, which then basically serves as the input form for the Access database. What I need is to somehow get the primary key (EstimateID) of the current record on the Access form...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
