If you are looking for opinon on what's useful in Access 2007, there's a new
article at:
http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html
Covers what's good (useful features), what's mixed (good and bad), what's
gone (features removed), what's fixed (old issues solved), what's broken
(new bugs), configuration, compatibility, should you buy, and links.
It is opinion, so you may disagree, but hopefully it's an informative
summary.

If you develop for others, you probably have multiple versions of Access
installed so you can edit and create MDEs for clients in different versions.
This works fine under Windows XP, even with Access 2007 installed.
It does *not* work under Windows Vista Ultimate. After running Access 2007,
when you open an earlier version of Access, no code works, because the
references are fouled up. And Access 97 does not work at all.
Access should...

Why the heck was this dropped? All my dbs use ULS even the complex ones. It
aint perfect, it's too fiddly, but it works.
How will I be able to say "These users can run these reports and these users
can't." in Access 2007? Will I have to create my own tables
(tblSecurityGroups, tblSecurityUsers) and code the whole thing?
Thanks,
Paul

What to do when the best laid plans change and mazes of legacy are
abolished, simplified, or built anew for contemporary reality.
A preliminary database was developed for tracking material through a
variety of manufacturing procedures. For a variety of business and
reality check reasons, the names of tables and columns need to be
changed, and some previously monolithic data tables are to be further
normalized.
What are some of the...

I have a rather complex commercial Acc2003 application (tab controls,
50K+ lines of VBA code, etc.) that will not run well at all on Windows
Vista Ultimate. I have seen posts indicating that Acc2003 MDBs should
work on Vista. However, our particular file has too many problems to
be viable on a Vista platform. Even converting it to an Acc2007 accdb
file has no positive effect.
I realize that Vista is new and should be avoided like the...

I have a new client who has an Access 2000 database that used to run
under Windows 2000 Pro. They have just "upgraded" to Access 2007
under Vista, and the old database stopped working - buttons on forms
did nothing.
When I first looked at it the problem seemed to be the change to the
signature of Docmd.Requery (fewer arguments) so I made the necessary
changes and the database compiled. I compiled and tested it on my
work system (also...

Hi,
i've got an older Access program, which is written in the version 2000
and i'd like to use it with my new office 2007, so access 2007.
In the program, there is an replication written with the Jet Replica
Library, and i read on a microsoft site, that replications in jet
schould still work in access 2007, if you still use the old
extension .mdb

Ran into an inconvenience with TabControls yesterday. I found a
partial explanation from Allen Browne on the MS message boards
explaining when it happens, but not why. I thought Stephen Lebans
(who's done a little work with this for his multi-colored listbox
class), or someone else might've figured this out.
Here's the scenario:
DBs created on Windows XP using A2K7 are apparently incapable of
displaying TabControl transparency....

I've continued to use Access 97 all these years because (1) it does
everything I need quickly and (2) most of what I've read online
indicates that it's still the most bug-free version of Access. But
now that Vista is gradually becoming the only Windows choice and Vista
doesn't exactly "cooperate" with Access 97, I'm afraid it may be time
to take the leap.
I haven't had any experience with later versions of Access so I'm
seeking...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
