Hi All,
I've searched all over to try to figure this out, to no avail. I need to have some method to determine who's logged into an Access 2007 file. I've seen techniques for reading the old .ldb file format, but they don't seem to work with the new .laccdb file format.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!
Cheers,

Hi.
In the ldb file you can see the users of the mdb-file. If you open the
mdb-file your machine and username will be written in the lbd- file.
Allthough you close the mdb-file your name won't disappear from the
ldb-file, before every user has closed the mdb-file.
I have heard that there will be problems if the amount of users will
be over 10 in mdb-files. Is that true?

Database Users need to have Read/Write etc... permissions to the
folder where the Database resides in order to create the lock file.
I have read only users.
I have set up the Shortcut that links to the 'Workgroup Info File'
with permissions for said database.
Within this 'WIF' File I have "Read Only" user's who are only provided
access to the DB only so they can view the data.
Now if I give them full permissions to the folder where...

How do you stop a user from double-clicking on .ACCDB file of 2007 and
being able to see the tables' and queries structure ?
If the solution is the database password, then database cannot open
from a shortcut as
"path to access 2007" "path to db 2007"
and user not able to open the database without needing to know the

We are using a shared split database with all users currently using
Access 2003. The back end is on a shared drive of a state wide WAN.
Each user has a copy of the front end on their local computer.
I programmed and maintain the database. We have about 140 users with
about a maximum of about 20 concurrent users.
I use user level security to determine which of the three groups a
user belongs to, and then VB Script and macros show the...

10 years ago, the below was written (see very end, after my signature

What, if anything, has changed?
I have Access 2003 and soon Access 2007 on a Windows XP Professional
or Windows Vista Ultimate machine, with SQL Server Express running on
it, and I want somebody, with a password (which I will provide) to be
able to log onto a A03 or A07 dB from the internet. Now that I type
this I realize that unless I put the database onto a...

I have a shared Access mdb that was originally written in A2000. The
database is large, around 40 tables, 40 forms (many with multiple
sub-forms), and 100s of reports. The database is not split, but runs off of
the LAN in the office with about 5 or 6 concurrent users. Recently the
office upgraded to A2007 but they are continuing to run in compatability
mode.
The problem is that with ordinary use, read/write operations through the...

I have developed a database, split it, loaded the back end onto a
shared folder on the network and placed a copy of the front end on
each user's pc. the database is set to open in shared mode, however
as soon as one user logs in the others can't causing access to lock up/
not respond. all the users have access 2007 installed, and definitely
have their own front end - any ideas how to fix this?!

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
