I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance
problems.
Details:
- Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project )
- Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC
I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who

The linked table has a bigint in primary key columns.
I've read that service pack 8 on Jet should solve this but it didn't.
On patch1 options I only found to map timestamp to char(26) entry
for similar problems on timestamp fields but nothing for Bigint.
DB2 is UDB8.1 Fix 6 on Win2000
Are there any other solutions?

query that draws data from my stored table and a linked table. The linked
table is a *.txt file.

(using Oracle ODBC drivers). After linking the tables in Access, I inspect
the data contained in the linked tables. For tables that involve a number

Anyone know a way to make all access to a linked table, in another
Access MDB, read only?
I really don't want all the hassle of implementing full access security.
I can't do this at the server file system because in some front ends the
user needs update access.
I want to give users access to the data for reporting with their own
queries and reports. I just don't want to take a chance on them

I have a SQL database which contains a table (TblA) with a field (Fld1) defined as "bigint". When the SQL table is linked to Access the design view of the linked table shows this field as a data type of "Text".

If you have access to the database that the linked table is in, modify
it there. You can't modify a linked table. Alternatively, you can
import the linked table, then it won't be linked any more and you can
modify it. There are potential problems with this strategy, as you will
be working on a copy of the original table, so any new data that goes
into the original table from elsewhere will not be reflected in your
database.

I've got two tables in sql2005 which have an 'ntext' field
when I linked the first table in access97 last week using an odbc data
source the access-field type was 'memo'
when I link the 2nd table today, it is linked as a text(255) field,
ditto for the first table if I link it today

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
