Display values in a combobox frm a table

5 New Member
Hello,

More questions from this newbie:

I have an Application table which has Application ID and Application Name. I have another table Variable which has Variable ID, Application ID and other columns.

I have a form with a dropdown list which should display the Application Names in the dropdown list. A criteria for the name to be displayed is that it should already have a record in the Variable table.

I am able to display dropdown values in the form but it displays the Application ID. What should I do to be able to display the Application Name and not the ID.

help!!!

thanks,
lyanne

Hi Lyanne. In your combo box properties you will find the column widths property. If you have two columns in the combo it will show two values, like this:

1.667cm;4.524cm (exemplars only)

It is normally the case that the first column is the 'bound' column, the one which displays the ID value. If you set the width of this column to 0 it will show the other column - the Application Name - instead of the ID. To do this, just change the widths like this:

0cm;4.524cm; (remember to use your own column width, not mine!)

Then reduce the list width property to reflect the narrower list.

The SQL is a union...

Hello Everyone, I would like to format the Display Members of a combobox's datasource. Is there a way to apply a format without subclassing the original datasource? Found this cited as a good method: http://www.mvps.org/access/forms/frm0058.htm I have two tables (clients,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
