IF THEN - Hide toolbars for users

9 New Member
Hello,

I have made a form for entering suggestions, what I want to happen is if I open the form I can see all the toolbars, design view etc . . .

but if another user opens the form all information is hidden.

Also if possible when user "cornsg" opens the database I want that user to be shown a different form to everyone else opening it.

I have set it up so when the database is opening it auto opens a form that says welcome then after 5 secs opens a form that users imput data.

Any help will be really appreshicated please reply / email me lewis.hall@inbo x.com

THANKS GUYS

Hi

This depends how much work you want to do!

The simplest way is to design a 'custom' menubar with only the options you want users to have access to; just Quit by the sound of it if you only have one form.

You will then have to set this to your form(s) (Form Properties > Other > Menu Bar) otherwise they will always have a default menu.

Go into Tools > Startup and un-check everything, set your Menu Bar and Startup form.

When anybody starts the system they will only have access to what you have given them on the Menu Bar.

When you start the system, hold down the Shift key while it's firing up and then you will have full design capability.

This is very basic level security but may be OK for your app.

If you want a particular user to have a different experience to others then your first screen must be a login-screen; from that you can redirect him as neccessary.

If you want something more sophisticated you'd better read the Help on User Level Security

Hi, client wants for a window with no toolbars to open (technical and 'esthetical' reasons) after the window, user clicks on, is being closed. I told them about security settings in browsers and no cross-browsers solutions and all of that we know, but they have told me they have seen that before and how then the annoying pop-up windows work? . . .

My name is Mario Crevits, I'm from Belgium (Roeselare) and I'm working with Access97 for several years now. We are in an Access97-2000 migration project. I'm writing a wizard for the end-users to automatically find and convert their Access97 databases on a specific drive. I want to convert the databases through VBA : 1. create an empty Access2000 2. set the right properties and references 3. import the objects (tables, queries,...

If CurrentUser() <> "mlh" Then Application.SetOption "Show ToolTips", False Application.SetOption "Key Assignment Macro", "NonExistent" Application.SetOption "Built-In ToolBars Available", False End If But a toolbar still appears even though these lines have been processed. Not surprising, really. These lines came from old

Does anyone know how I can hide a form from the TaskManager? I've set the ShowInTaskbar to False, but when using Alt-TAB to switch between applications, it appears as a blank icon. I can set it as a SizableToolWindow, but then I no longer have the minimize button on the caption. Is there a way to mimic a (FormBorder) sizable tool window (so it doesn't appear in the tasklist) and still show the Min, Max and Close control buttons? (Or...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
