I seem to be having trouble with trying to access Management classes for a
remote XP machine from the Server Manager in Visual Studio .Net.
I can access the classes for several servers running Windows Server
2000/2003 and from a test PC I can access the classes of my main PC running
XP.
However if I try to access the classes of the test PS from my main one I get
an error stating that "The RPC server is unavailable". There is also an...

We run a simple network here... the server and all computers access the
internet via a ADSL connection through a router.
If i turn Internet connection firewall(ICF) on my machine and try and remote
debug an application i get a error about RPC communication not available..
I take it this is because ICF Blocks a number of ports that RPC needs.
what are these ports? how can i configure my pc so that ICF is on... and i
am still able to...

Hello all,
I am attempting to access a remote folder from an asp.net application (all
within the same domain). The application is configured for windows
authentication in IIS and the asp.net worker process runs as the local
ASP.NET account. When the application is about to access the remote folder I
switch the security context to the remote user programmatically, then switch
it back afterwards. When I run the application on my local...

I'm having trouble accessing SQL2005 Standard Edition as a second
instance of SQL Server where the first instance is SQL 2000 Enterprise
Edition. I installed SQL 2005 as a named instance "SQL2005". The
server is running Windows 2000 SP4 ON A 32-Bit machine. When I look in
Services I see the SQL Server (SQL2005), SQL Server Agent (SQL2005)
services there. I went into SQL Server Configuration manager and
disabled the named pipes protocol...

I've seen a number of posts from frustrated folks about this topic,
with not much offered as a solution. I actually managed to get this to
work today, so I thought I'd post for the benefit of the community.
My team went through a number of puzzling errors in getting this work,
like the CLI0150E (Driver not capable) error, and a variety of DB2OLEDB
errors. None which were really indicative of the problem. Here's how
I got a...

We had an sbs 2003 with isa 2000 server. We wre able to access a
remote sql server (hosted at our web host) just fine. We replaced the
server with a new sbs 2003 r2 with isa 2004 server and even though I
have opened port 1433 in isa 2004 we can't access the remote sql
server anymore. Where can I look for any blocks?
Many Thanks

Hi
My app am unable to access a remote sql server (hosted by our web host) from
a sbs 2003 premium (with isa 2000). The app bombs with the error; An error
has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting
to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the
default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider:

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
