Barcode Scanner integration with Access

1 New Member
Hello I am using a symbol 6608 scanner and I am trying to scan a 2D barcode. The fields in the barcode are seperated by a carront (^) as the delimiter btw the fields. I am stuck on how to code the the Access database to reconize this and place the text in the correct fields. For example below is the raw data

Jon^Smith^Jr^AB C Company^Marketi ng Manager^123 Street^Suite 200^City^State^ Zip^Country^Pho ne^Fax^Email

I want to be able to to take my barcode scanner scan the 2D barcode and the above mentioned data to fall in the correct columns. First Name Last Name and so on. Can some one assist.
Thank you

I'm guessing (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that you scan a barcode, and the scanner decodes that to a number and that you have some sort of delimited text file which equates that barcode number to a carrot(^) delimited set of data.

If that is the case, what you want to do is import that delimited file into an Access table indexed on the barcode number and then find your records based on the number the scanner decodes from the barcode.

Sounds like fun, good luck

Using VB6, I want to read barcode data into an Access 2000 DB. What do you get when you read a barcode? Text or numbers. How do you define the field were the data would be stored? Thanks in advance, Tom D.

I want to integrate a simple USB POS barcode reader into my VB .NET app. Only need a scan a few products per minute, nothing major. I'm not really sure where to start, is there an SDK I need, does .NET already have an interface for Barcode readers. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Dean

Greetings, I would like to integrate a barcode scanner into the current project I am working on. I have been looking around teh web and with the exception of embeded devices I cannot find many programming guides. What I am looking for is a barcode scanner with an api/sdk. I am not interested in using a keyboard wedge because I do not want my end user to have to deal with making sure the cursor is in the right place. As it needs to...

Hi, I am in the design phase of building a database that will track the productivity of my warehouse. I am thinking of using a barcode scanner to assist me with this. Employees will hopefully be scanning a barcode which will communicate to the computer that the employee did some type of task. Employees will be identified by ID badges which will contain string data to identify them and hopefully log them in. Is this a good way to keep...

I need to have 2 simple barcode reader applications finished by midnight tonight. I have never written any barcode reader software and need any help that you may be able to offer. I do not know what type of barcode the user will have, so I need to be able to accept input from any industry standard barcode reader. I need to check the barcodes scanned to see if they are in a database of acceptable barcodes and simply show ACCEPT or...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
