csv file imports - field values are misaligned

1 New Member
I was able to consolidate about 100 csv files into one master table which I then imported into access (2003). The problem is that the csv files contained different layouts. Currently the data is scrambled meaningless junk.

I need to take the consolidated table and put the field values in order according the the field names by design. I need a query or code that will search across 50 or so colums, look for the correct data if it exists and align it in the right column.

How do I do this?

Have a look at the tutorial on importing csv files.

You should be able to adapt it to your situation.

This is a strange one that I can't seem to find a fix for. We have a Billing DB application (Access 2000 format) where we upload billing info in a comma delimited text file to our printer who prints and mails our bills. The application basically creates a table then exports a comma delimited file of that table. The problem is that we keep getting one seemingly random record in the text file that is misaligned. The record in question is...

Hi there, I'm running access 2002 SP-2. I'm trying to import a CSV file where everything except the last (end, and most recently added) field will import. I can open the file in notepad, and it has data in that field. Access has chosen the default data type as Double. (The data is: 00.000, or substitute '0' for any number) There is only 19,000 rows, and it imports in seconds, but not that last field.

I've got the basics of an XML ini file working. I.E. I can stash away and retrieve user preferences. (Code below.) But how do I handle a new preference? Say I have A and B. And then I invent C. The first time the new version with C is run the XML file will not have a value for C. How do I detect that case? Somewhere I got the impression that I could use IsNull, but I was unable to find an example which I could apply to my code. My...

I am having problems using the file.create method within a function that is called when looping through an array of filepaths. If I call my function with a hardcoded file path --C:\Temp.txt the function creates the file as expected. When I loop through my array I get the error - "ArgumentException was unhandled - Illegal characters in path" The value "C:\Temp.txt" is the first value in the array - as it works

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
