Problem with user passwords and accounts in Access 2007...

Good Evening:

So, I wanted to learn a little about user accounts, because on of my databases has been put on a network drive, and I have a need to know who is entering what data into the application. I figured one easy way to do that would be to just create a user account for everyone and copy to the table "CurrentUse r" each time a new record is added. Then I'll know who added the record.

To learn this, I went to another site with a tutorial about this stuff and stupidly downloaded a sample database (which happened to have an .mdb file extension, i.e. earlier than Access 2007) which was designed to teach about user accounts and permissions.

So I played around with this database for a while, created some users, set some permissions and passwords, worked with user groups, etc. and everything worked fine.

Then, later on, much to my surprise, when I completely closed out of Access and opened my own project, it asked me for a password with my username that I created in the other database. What's more is that when I got into my project, I found that I was completely locked out of the user accounts and permissions part of the "Database Tools" menu - I couldn't change anything.

Finally then, my question is this: when you make such changes in one project, aren't they supposed to be local to that project? It seems like the changes I made affected Access as an application, period. What is going on here? Thank you...

I can get the debugger to work: I get a message: "sp debugging may not work if you log as as Local System Account" while SQL Service is configured to run as a service. You can open Event Viwer to see details." (Viwer means "Viewer" this is not one of my typos...) My text book says that this message means there is a problem that can be fixed in the SQL Server registration node (just under the server group in Enterprise Manager),...

The other day my friends were on the web ready to purchase some tickets on-line for a concert. There was a textbox to enter their e-mail address and another to enter a password. So they entered their e-mail address and promptly entered their password to their Yahoo email account and submitted it. The web server fortunately kicked it out and said "Invalid Email Account". They had done this several times so they asked me for help. I...

I'm writing a program for a college to use to allow students to register their computers for use on the network. Aside from a bunch of security related checks I would like the program to offer to store the users network username and password so when they access network servers they are not prompted for their username every time. I can do it manually through the user accounts control panel -> Advanced Tab -> "Manage Passwords" button, but...

Hello, I have a problem with our OnlineBackupService.exe. This is a Windows Service which is built in .Net 1.1 and basically grabs files from the file system and will try to upload them using WebServices. The service is installed by default using LocalSystem account. The exact problem is that sometimes this service is not allowed to resolve the target webservice. This results in the following exception:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
