Text and check box relationships

AP
I am creating a database form that has a date field and a check box.

When a user enters a date then I want the check box to automatically
be null and if no date is entered I want the check box to be ticked.

I am quite new to access to please only easy solutions

Many Thanks

Sound like the default value for the checkbox needs to be set to True.

Then, in the AfterUpdate event of the date field test the field to see if a
date is entered. If so then set the checkbox to null (or do you mean
False?).

Some air code.

If IsNull([Date Text Box]) then
[chkBox] = True
else
[chkBox] = False
end if

I think you can also use a macro to do this.

You need to set the check box back to True in case they clear the date
field.

One of the things I find most unnatural about most XML APIs is that they try to abstract both elements and text into some kind of "node" object when they have virtually nothing in common. The reason these APIs do it is to make it possible for both text and elements to be children of elements. But there is another way. The XPath/XQuery data model does not allow two consecutive text nodes. As far as I can tell, most XML processing...

Hello All: What I am trying to do is bind a textbox (really several text boxes) based on a list box selection. Basically what I'm dealing with are two tables with a 1 to 1 relationship. I have created the dataset and defined the relationship between the two tables in the schema. I add a list box to a form and set it's datasource to the parent table and its

I'm trying to build a database that will handle the monthly billing needs of a small company. I'm charting everything out and here's what I see: table for customers sub table to track payments received. No biggie, right? Well, here's my problem. I don't know how to tell access to modify everyone's account balance each month. And I can't just always assume that their monthly bill is $16 just because their balance is $16. If I do that...

I am running Access 2002 and just ran the built in Access wizard for splitting a database into a back end (with tables) and front end (with queries, forms, modules, etc.). After running the wizard, I opened the table relationship view and noticed that all the relationships are missing. Is this supposed to happen? If so, why? I've noticed that queries are behaving strangely now, seemingly because the relationships are not established....

Hi. I really hope someone can help me. Going slowly insane with this problem. I have a two Access 2000 databases. One is the backend containing tables and some admin queries. The other is the front end with forms / queries and links to the tables in the back end. From the Relationships window I selected File / Print Relationships. The resulting report shows relationships that are not displayed in the relationships window. Some of...

Hi all-- In an attempt to commit an Access MDB to a versioning system (subversion), I'm trying to figure out how to convert a jet table's metadata to text, a la SaveAsText. The end goal is to be able to build an MDB completely from the svn repository text files. Has anybody dealt with this? Thanks in advance,

I'm curious about your opinion on setting relationships. When I designed my first app in Access I'd go to Tools/Relationships and set the relationships. Over time I'd go into the window and see relationship spaghetti....tables/queries all overthe place with lots of relationship lines between here and there. After that first app I didn't do relationships. If I had a query, I defined the relationship. Many of the times when I create a...

Hello all, Prior to going live with my app, I have questions on relationships theory. My prior app was done in Access 97, and I did NOT use relationships at all. I have 65 tables in my back-end database, and with Access 97, if you added relationships, it would add multiple copies of the same relationships over and over, so I decided not to use any relationships at all. Additionally, when I needed to add or remove fields via code, it...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
