I want to be able to use DLookup in a query, extracting a value from a
Table to form a new field in the query.
For interest, I have a record of Beetle sightings and record a unique
number (J) for each species. I have a table that defines Beetle
families as those that belong to the set J(lowest) and J(highest).
eg the Family A consists of all beetles with numbers between 5 and
1500.
I want to show a report of selected beetles, presented by named
families, without needing to add the family to every record.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks,

You could probably use nested iif statements in your SQL string to
create a calculated field, but you can't sort or group by calculated
fields. You might be able to turn it into an Insert Into statement to
populate a properly structured temporary table which could then in
turn be used for the report. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

the tables.
The SQL looks like this:

I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance
problems.
Details:
- Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project )
- Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC
I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who
creates the commands?) creates and noticed:

Hi everybody-
I'm helping a friend with a music database. She has an old one and is
creating a new one. She wants to compare records and fields in the old
database with records and fields in the new database. For instance,
her old database has a table with Band Info in it. Her new database
also has a table with Band Info in it but slightly different. I was
wondering if there was an easy way to compare the fields from similar
tables in...

Can I code this somehow. So the code presumabley would loop through all the

Hello Fellow Programmers,
I have an issue with a very large PHP page that calls over 20 different MySql Statements. This page is loading somewhat slow and i want to speed things up. I have looked into sql caching applications like http://eaccelerator.net/ and http://www.danga.com/memcached/ which i may install later, but i feel they are more for pages that are called frequently, my page calls the same data less times but can call more than...

Hey everybody, got a secnario for ya that I need a bit of help with.
Access 97 using linked tables from an SQL Server 2000 machine.
I've created a simple query using two tables joined by one field
between them. The join field in both tables are indexed and I'm
selecting 1 field from each table to lookup. The Access query is
taking more than 60 second to retrieve 1 record and if I execute the
same query within the Query Analyzer, it...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
