Report Layout & Front End Form...

Two little problems that are annoying me!;

1) I have created a report in access (based on a parameter query) which contains 18 fields (mainly dates - dd/mm/yyyy). There are too many fields to fit all the information accross one page, portrait OR landscape. I've tried cramming the fields in and reducing the text to size 7 but its still not working.
Is there any way i can create a portrait, vertical report so the field names are listed on the left (top to bottom) and all the records go from left to right across pages rather than top-to-bottom as usual?

2) If i create an opening screen form to navigate to all the areas of the database, how do I set this form to open automatically when the database is opened (at the moment an earlier form i created opens)?

I'm using Access 2003.
Help much appreciated. (I used to be good with access 5 years ago but i've now forgotten everything!)

Turning data like you're talking about is usually done by creating a crosstab query. You can use your Parm Query as the source for this. It may take some playing around some, but basically the idea is to use your "dated" fields as the left side and any other criteria across the top.

There is some irony in this...in the fact that most people that design reports actually want the dates across the top. sometimes you just gotta say hmmmm.

I just changed my Access 2002 database to a SQL Server ADP project. I had a form where the user entered a value into a text box and when a command button on the form was clicked a Report was opened. The reports record source is a query. The query uses the value from the form text box to restrict the query. Table name = EggsTable one of the columns in the table is named: EggColor Form name = EggColorForm Form text box name = ColorTextBox

I am opening a report from a form. How do I get the report to open in front of the form? I tried setting the form's Visible property to False and the report displayed too small to preview. To try and overcome that I added DoCmd.Runcommand acZoom100 to the code and the report displayed with only about one inch sticking out of the left side of the screen. Thanks for the help! Marie

Greetings. Ok, I admit it, I bit off a bit more than I can chew. I need to complete this "Generate Report" page for my employer and I'm a little over my head. I could use some additional assistance. I say additional because I've already had help which is greatly appreciated. I do try to take the time and understand the provided script in hopes on not having to trouble others on those. But here it goes...

Hi, I am new to this newsgroup and need help in the following questions. 1. I am workin' on a GUI application. Does C# provides Layout Managers the way Java does to design GUI? I know that it can be done using the designer but I intentionally don't want to use that. The one reason is that you cannot change the code generated by the designer. The other could be that you have more free hand and control to design your GUI. 2....

I am writing a VB (2005) program that will allow the user to fill out and print a form. The form input is stored in a database (SQL 2005) to be retrieved/viewed/printed later. The form is originally a Word Document, I also have this form as a PDF. Appearance and quality is critical for this form.. so what I thought I'd do is convert the form to a bitmap, use a picture object on my VB form and overlay textbox (no border) controls on top...

Hello, I have a form that generates a report. After the code is executed that creates the tables behind the report, it opens the report via VB. But when it opens the report in preview, it puts it behind my form. How do I make it come to the front so I don't have to close the form? I want the user to be able to close the report when their done printing or looking at it and have the form back so they can generate it again if they want. Thank...

I have a DB that I developed on access XP (2002) and deployed over a year ago. No one has had problems printing any of the reports within the DB until we started loading 2007 on new computers. The access 2007 users cannot print one of the reports. This is maddening since I cannot duplicate the issue on any computer that runs 2003 or below. Is there something going on that I'm not seeing? Does anyone have any suggestions at all on...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
