Hi,
My group have a ASP.NET based application ( currently
running on 1.0.3705 ). Ideally, we would like to deploy
new components(asp files/assemblies/db updates) into a
live environment without interuption. However, it appears
that upon deploying new assemblies to \appbase\bin we
immediately get 'Access is denied: xxx.dll' exceptions
(where xxx.dll is the next .dll required for loading
depending upon where the user happens to be).

I am using the data access application block successfully in our development
environment, however when I deploy to our testing server as Private
Assemblies I keep getting the following
Configuration Error

Hello
The application I'm building an installer for uses dlls which were
developed originally in C. Since the application itself is developed in
C#, these dlls were wrapped using SWIG. Initially, the machine
environment variables were set to enable code development; however, I
am facing problem deploying the application. To work with these wrapped
libraries, the application seems to access a specific dll, for
instance, let's say the C...

I have a VB .NET 2003 application that communicates with an Access db.
I am deploying the application using the Wizard that creates an install
package and it IS properly grabbing the Access db and putting it in the
Program Files directory along with the application executable, no
problem.
The problem is this...
The OleDbConnection knows of the database in an absolute location (i.e.
C:\Documents and Settings\ApplicationDB\data.mdb

Hello everybody,
I have written an application that is running as an Office project
within Excel in C#. I created a setup project for my tool. When I
install my program on a machine that has Excel 2003 everything is
fine. If there is only Excel 2007 the installation will fail. If there
are both (Excel 2003 and 2007) installed, the installation is also ok.
My tool is running fine with Excel 2007, but I can't install it on a
machine...

Hello,
I'm looking for some best practice advice on deploying a 32-bit WinForms app
on 32-bit Vista as regards file locations.
The app will be written in Visual Studio.NET 2005 and will be compiled into
a single executable with some values stored in the app.config file - the
user needs to be able to update these values.
The app also will use a Jet database.

Hello,
(Is this the proper newsgroup?)
=== Background ===
I am building a solution with two projects.
One project is my data access layer which contains my DataSet as an xsd
file. The XSD file was built by draging tables from the Data Sources pane.
Auto-generated code created the files associated wtih the XSD file (xss,

I have several in-house applications that I have developed over the years using vba in Access Data Projects. When we converted the SQL server over to 2005, some of the sorts no longer functioned properly, as well as a few other annoying little things that we have learned to live with.
However, at this point in time, I am looking at converting over to Access 2007. At first I thought that adp's were no longer supported, but then I found out...

Hello again,
I'm close to the end of converting a large app from access 97 to 2007.
I have many users on the old system, with the db's in Access 97, and here's
what I'm thinking of doing to convert the older folks db's. I've changed
tables around a bit, added new tables, and deleted un-used fields, otherwise
I would do a convert. I'm going to write a routine that will do the
following:

I'm currently looking at the access developer extensions for creating an MSI
installer package for a 2007 runtime app. Couple of observations and
questions.
1) Doesn't look like we have the ability to set a packaged file to always
overwrite, or never overwrite, unless I'm missing something. This could be a
sticking point, as I would always want the program to overwrite on
re-installing, but NEVER the back end database. I have a few more...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
