Justify text in Access Report - Grow/Shrink, and other languages

1 New Member
Hi everyone,
I have installed Stephan Leban's code to create a text box with a justified text in Access Report. This worked perfectly well. However, I need your help with regards to 2 problems:
1- the new text box (which has the justified text) does not allow me to make it grow and shrink to suit my text.
2- also the box doesn't read Arabic text. It shows the letter as question marks.

I am using Access 2002, on a Windows XP.

I would be grateful for your advice.

  1. There are properties (Can Grow & Can Shrink) for TextBoxes on a form. Set these as you need them.
  2. This is a separate question that I don't know anything about. To get an answer to this you should post it as a separate thread (as per the FAQ). Good luck

On your second problem, I have the same issue, using Telugu (an Indian language). There are two solutions.
If you are using Unicode then you have actually install the arabic languages from the Windows XP CD and then select the Arabic language you want as a second language on the toolbar. You can then enter and display Arabic.

The other option, which we chose, was to use a 3rd party software tool from baraha.com which creates Telugu and other Indian languages from a UK keyboard. To see the Telugu you have to install the correct font and set the access control to that font. This is when the text entered stays as ascii rather than unicode

I want to create two buttons on a form. One would allow the user to Copy the contents of the current records memo field, the other would allow them to print. I set up a report based on the memo field, and it works. But, it seems wrong since I had to create a huge text box to accommodate memo fields with a lot of text. Thanks for any help, ShyGuy

Hi, Is there a way to meassure the amount of text populating a text field? My project involves creating a way to select a particular report depending on the amount of text. For instance, if five text fields labeled "Serivce Goal 1 ... Service Goal 2", contain only a scanty one sentence, report "A" would be selected; if the text fields contain a whole paragraph, then report "B" would be used.

Hi, I have a report with Name1 and Name2 in the address section . Sometimes, Name2 is not populated with data via the query that feeds the report. Unfortunately, the blank line stays in the report. I've tried experimenting with the Can Shrink property to no avail. Any tips on eliminating blank lines the right way would be much appreciated. thanks!

Hi, I have a report, viewable in continuous form. I don't want the size of the report to change (it should fit address labels on the printer), but in order to minimise the space between empty fields I shrink the text boxes, bunch them together and set cangrow to on. E.g. instead of this: Some name

Using Access 97, I've created a grading sheet. To save space, the subjects are in vertical columns on a sub-report, like so: Math Spelling Reading N C T A A E U A I C C X M L M C C P B C E U U R E U S R R E

Hi, I have a report that has fields that grow/shrink. These reports each have an image as a background. For records that cause the boxes to shrink / grow I get a second page that only has the image background. I don't, however, get the section margins are wider than the report margins.... I'm dealing with 8.5x11 printouts, and the printers I have available

Hi, I have managed to work out how to add new lines into a calculated text box. However in this text box some of the outcome fields are empty however when previewing the report it includes the blank fields, so each section of the report is the same size, my field is set to can grow/shrink, but I think my inclusion in the code for the calculated box of all 15 outcomes (I have no choice) is what's causing each calculated box to be the...

Is there a way to count how many lines are in a text box on a Access 97 report? I have a report that has a text box and sometimes the box will be 2 lines long and sometimes 3 lines long. I need some other text boxes to adjust depending on how many lines are in the text box. Below is some code I found in this forum but does not work. It does not matter if I use a CR (Carriage return) Chr$(13) or LF (Linefeed) Chr$(10) or both. Dim n...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
