Problem with creating MDE file in Access 2003

32 New Member
Hello All,

I created an application using Ms Access 2000. My client has Access 2003. When I shipped him the code, this problem occured.
He took the following actions -

1. double click on mdb file
2. the startup form opens - close it
3. convert the file to Access - 2003
4. cose and re-open mdb file
5. Try to create mde file

the last step does not work. A MDB file called db1.mdb is created instead. When we double click on the db1.mdb , we get an error saying "Unrecogniz ed database". No mde is created.

We are both using windows XP
I can create an mde successfully on my machine.
he can run the mde created by me successfully on his machine
he can run the mdb file successfully on his machine

Can someone help me solve this weird problem? Thanks in advance

Regards

Have him compile the code and do a compact and repair and then try again.

Have them skip step 3 and 4. Maybe it's the conversion process that's screwing it up. So the code compiled just fine? It didn't highlight any problems?

Hello rabbit, thanks for replying.

the code compiles just fine, no issues. Initially there was a mismatch between some references/links set in my project and his. This was not allowing the mdb to even run.
But we sorted that out and now everyteshing is working perfectly other than this mde issue.

I will ask him to bypass step 3 and 4 as u suggested and let u know what happened

Ay hlp will be appreciated.
Regards

Hi everyone, Got one tiny problem; i've created database in SQL Server and I'm using MS Access as a front-end to this database. Everything works fine apart from one small thing: whenever I want to edit a field by adding additional information to it, I can't do it. The only way is to delete what that field contains and re-write everything from scratch. I wonder if that can be related to some SQL Server settings or sth else...

I have a function that will search through a list box and select a variable. I can get the item in the list box to select, but I cannot get the list box to go to the selected item. So if the user identifies a variable at the bottom of the list, the list box may not show it. Works in Access2000. THIS SEEMS LIKE THIS WOULD BE A SIMPLE PROBLEM TO FIX.

Hi - I am trying to save a file from one server to another. Both are on the same network. When I attempt the operation, I get the following: There is a time and/or date difference between the client and server. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Hello, I'm compiling an .exe file on VS2005 under C++ without framework support. For some reason, when I look at the properties of the .exe file there is no version tab although the project does have a resource file and the file version is defined there. I tried to create a new project and go over the projects settings and see if there is any difference but I found none.

Dear All, Yesterday, one of my students had a problem using MS Access 2003. Whilst editing a report in design view, using the Sorting and Grouping option, if they changed the Group Footer option to Yes, it locked out all the other options, which simply did not respond when clicked on. If the same person open the same database in MS Access 2000, on the same machine, it allowed the changes straight away. On then opening the same file back in...

At one of my client sites we noticed a few weeks ago that Listboxes which previously showed "Yes" or "No" are now showing "-1" or "0". The underlying tables and queries are displaying True/False fields correctly and I suspect this problem is related to Service Pack 3. I haven't been able to find any other posts on the Net about this problem? Has anyone else noticed this and more importantly, is there a solution?

I am new to this, I'm assuming the answer is simple for the experienced. I have a checkbox on a form to indicate that a job is a '2ndCoat'. When the user checks the box, I want another field( the 'PriceofJob' field ) to be reduced by 65%. Any help greatly appreciated.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
