I recently converted a A2000 Database to an A2003. When I launch the
app I get this message: "This file may not be safe if it contains code
that was intended to harm your computer." The database runs fine
otherwise. I have no macros, not even ones converted to VB. I have no
modules and have sifted through the code, which is very
straightforward and a relatively simple database, and I can find no
questionable code. Is there a way of turning off this warning when the
user opens the app?
Thanks,

Unlike Word and Excel, Access 2003 gives you this warning 100% of the time,
not just when code and macros are actually present. You can go to Tools -
Macros - Security and change the setting to Low to get rid of the message.

I set the macro security level to 'low', but it won't keep it set
there. When I re-open the database, it reverts back to 'medium'.

Hmm, are you perhaps on a network domain where they are enforcing such thing
with a group policy? In that case there is nothing you can do about it.

Perhaps this is the case, but when the database was originally written
by me a couple of weeks ago the error message did not appear. The
situation does not effect any functionality of the database but the
message annoys the users. Is there a way to place code in the startup
form to suppress the message?

Note that if we are talking about the same message it is an ACCESS setting
that controls the message, not a setting in your MDB file. In other words
when the message is turned off on one PC that user never sees the message
regardless of the file they open and if it is enabled on another PC that
user would see the warning when opening ALL files, not just certain files.

Hey, I have a question about how secure the following will be....
I want to have a login form that posts to itself, so when it loads it checks
if there is a username and password on the query list.
If there is not, it asks for one.
If there is, it checks to see if the information is valid.
If it is not valid, it deletes the attributes and calls itself again.

Hi
Before anyone blasts me for posting a question that the solution clearly
appears in the help file, please read on.
I keep getting the Security Warning : Opening.. x database may not be safe,
because it could contain harmful code, etc. We all know the warning.
Help says : Go to Tools menu, Macro and click on Security. (Running Office
2003). One slight problem, I don't have the 'security' option as listed.

One of my customers is running an Access 2003 application. They have
the Macro Security Level set to Low. When the .mde app is executed
directly from the C: drive on their server, they get into the

drive (a link to the app on the C: drive), they get get the Security

I have seen this same app run at...

Hi all,
We have an asp.net 2.0 page with a button.
On clicking the button we redirect to another page which downloads a file.
When we deploy on the web server we are gretting a security warning saying that
"Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. click here for options".
Our code is as follows:

How do I get rid of the generic Windows "Open File - Security Warning"
that appears when I try to open a database that resides on another PC
on my home network? This is not the annoying macro security warning -
I have my macro security set to low. The warning I am describing only
appears when a database on another machine is opened.

Hi
I've seen details on bypassing macro security with a bat file but has any one
incorporated this with Tony Toews FE Updater?
If so, I'd appreciate some guidance. As both open the database I'm not sure
how/if this will work.
Thanks

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
