Security warning even if Macro Security Level set to Low

One of my customers is running an Access 2003 application. They have
the Macro Security Level set to Low. When the .mde app is executed
directly from the C: drive on their server, they get into the
application just fine. When they execute the app from a mapped network
drive (a link to the app on the C: drive), they get get the Security
Warning and have to click on Open to get into the application.

I have seen this same app run at other sites, set up the same way
(using mapped network drive), and they do not get the security warning.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Kathy,

Is the the database split in to a front end and back end?

If it is it could be the back end that does not have it security set to
low.

Just an idea.

Good luck,

Nick

The setting is "for Access" not "the file".

Whenever I open a DB in 2003 I get the security warning box. How do I disable that screen? The Access help suggests..... Change the security level for macro virus protection by On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security. Click the Security Level tab, and then select the security level you want to use. However there is no Security option under the Macro option under

Hi Before anyone blasts me for posting a question that the solution clearly appears in the help file, please read on. I keep getting the Security Warning : Opening.. x database may not be safe, because it could contain harmful code, etc. We all know the warning. Help says : Go to Tools menu, Macro and click on Security. (Running Office 2003). One slight problem, I don't have the 'security' option as listed.

Last week I posted as follows, but no-one responded: " I have security level 'Medium' and expression blocking set. If I set security to 'Low', I get a dialog box which asks if I want to enable expression evaluation. Irrespective of whether I respond 'Yes' or 'No', the security level now shows as 'Low' and databases open thereafter without any warning dialogs. The only operational difference is that I'm prompted to restart Access if I...

I've been using Access 2003 databases for a while. Suddenly, yesterday, whenever my users open a database, they get a warning message saying something about "block unsafe expressions", and then, when they answer "Open", they get a screen stating that "Unsafe expressions are not blocked" - "Microsoft Jet 4 Service Pack 8 must be installed". Does anyone know why suddenly I need the service pack, and my database won't open without...

How do I get rid of the generic Windows "Open File - Security Warning" that appears when I try to open a database that resides on another PC on my home network? This is not the annoying macro security warning - I have my macro security set to low. The warning I am describing only appears when a database on another machine is opened.

Hi I've seen details on bypassing macro security with a bat file but has any one incorporated this with Tony Toews FE Updater? If so, I'd appreciate some guidance. As both open the database I'm not sure how/if this will work. Thanks

I recently converted a A2000 Database to an A2003. When I launch the app I get this message: "This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer." The database runs fine otherwise. I have no macros, not even ones converted to VB. I have no modules and have sifted through the code, which is very straightforward and a relatively simple database, and I can find no questionable code. Is there a way of turning...

On one computer I am getting the message "This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer. Open It?" and on my computer I didn't get that message when I opened the same app. This was due to me setting security level low on my computer but not setting it on the other computer. On the computer getting the error message I was also getting "Unsafe Expressions Not Blocked" error messages. I think, but...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
