Scenario:
1) Create a GLOBAL TEMPORARY table and populate it with
one (1) row.
2) Join that table to another with about 1 million rows.
The join condition selects a few hundred rows.
Performance: 4 seconds, the system is doing a full-table
scan of the second table, and the Explain Plan output

I am able to export an MS-Access table to Oracle if that table does
not exist there. I would like to append data to the Oracle table, but
I get the Oracle message "Error--00955 Name is already used by an
existing object."
Is it possible to use MS Access Table Export to append to an
existing Oracle table?

I am using Microsoft Access 2000 and Oracle 9.2.0.5 on Windows 2000.
When I export a table from Access to Oracle using ODBC
I get error:
ORA 972 identifier too long
I think the error is because one or more columns in Access table
are longer than 30 characters. My question is how one can overcome this
problem.
I also see several column names which have /, ? or spaces in name

Hi All,
I've had Access 97, 2000 connections to the corporate Oracle database
for a few years now - but seldom use it. When I did use it years ago,
performance was not fast but the features were good enough. Now, the
version of Access is 2003 with Office SP1 applied, Windows XP against
Oracle 9.2. And attached tables are real slow - 5 mins to get to
datasheet view and data is incorrect - the same row is repeated several

Queries against straight Oracle tables run fine.
For this query, however, the condition for finding DeptID's in the

I am trying to compare records from oracle table with a table in access. With oraDynaset, I have the option of .findNext function. I can use that to look for matching records from access to oracle.
My problem is: I have to look up in access table and delete the records from oracle table if a certain record is not available in the access table.
