Problems with DLookUp() of Access 2003 on Vista

2 New Member
Hi All,

My Access 2003 Application was created on MS XP and worked perfectly.
After installing it on Vista I have noticed that DLookUp function does not work
on Forms. It generates Error inside a text box.
Interesting that this function works perfectly in Reports.
If I run DLookUp inside a procedure (OnCurrent, for example) and try to see the result in MsgBox,
it generates Error Message "You canceled the previous operation" from MS Access.

Has anybody noticed this abnormality?

Your input will be apreciated.

Thank you

Nick

Thank you, missingling,

My humble apologies.
I started blame Vista a bit prematurely.
It was my mistake - I was trying to DLookUp the re-named field.
No wonder that Access put #Error message in the text box.

The good thing is - Your old Access 2003 programs developed on
Windows XP work perfectly on Vista!

Cheers

Nick

Hi all the following code works perfectly well. Basically it populates a series of check boxes on my form, depending on whether dlookup finds an associated record. The problem i have is that when the date (or xDate) goes over to the next month, dlookup returns NULL even though though there is a record. For example if CALWEEKSTART is 26/11/06 then the loop will check for

If you develop for others, you probably have multiple versions of Access installed so you can edit and create MDEs for clients in different versions. This works fine under Windows XP, even with Access 2007 installed. It does *not* work under Windows Vista Ultimate. After running Access 2007, when you open an earlier version of Access, no code works, because the references are fouled up. And Access 97 does not work at all. Access should...

Hello - This is my first posting to this group, so please bear with me. Also note, that while I'm intelligent, databases are not in my field of knowledge. I'm working with a small limousine company. They presently have about 4 networked computers, all running Windows XP (w/SP2) and Microsoft Office 2000 (specifically Access 2000) - and a plain jane p3 server also running Windows XP (w/sp2) with Office 2000 loaded onto it. These...

I'm experiencing the following intermittent problem with Access 2003 (Access 2000 file format) under Vista. Sometimes when I close a database by closing the database window I get the following unhelpful generic message: "Microsoft Access has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. The problem sometimes occurs when doing a compact and repair also. One particular database gives...

Hi I'm fairly new to access and as such my experience of VBA is somewhat limited. I have a login form which is linked to an "employees table" which asks for users to enter their name and password. The current VBA performs all the relevant checks around user name & password etc with no problems. However based on the users access level (which is set in the field "strAccess" in the Enployees table) when I click the "Login" button I'd like to...

Hello Everyone, I'm having some very weird behavior on a couple of Access forms. (Not all forms, just some of them). The forms have been working for years, under Access XP/2003 etc, and last week upgraded from Windows XP/Office 2003 to Vista x64/Office 2007. Under Access 2007, a couple of forms are now taking 60 seconds to

Hi, I am working on a log in form for an Access 2003 db. Because the built-in jet database engine doesn't supply the ability to record every log attempt, failed attempt, validate passwords, user lock after X failed log attempts, ... I desided to program one of my own. The code itselves works fine but I cannot write the value of intLogonAttempt to tbl_users, I would like to lock the user after 3 failed log attempts, and made a field called...

I'm in the progress of upgrading from Access 97 to Access 2003. I've read about some of the bugs introduced by Office Service Pack 3: http://allenbrowne.com/bug-Access2003SP3.html I've also seen the KB945674 hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945674 Does SP3 cause more problems than it solves? Would I be better off installing SP2 (and not SP3) or installing SP3 along with the hotfix?

This is a little complicated but I'll do my best to explain. In my db I have a table called L_AgeCorrection which has the following fields: Age, Sex, Frequency, AgeValue This is a table used to assign an Age Correction value to hearing test results - since some degree of hearing loss naturally occurs with aging - OSHA lets us calculate that in before determining if the employee has an actual "significant" hearing loss. Anyway...I have my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
