Access 2007 Runtime

I was one of the few who was able to download the Access 2007 runtime
when it was available for a short time. I installed it but cannot
figure out how it runs an Access 2007 database. There is no obvious exe
that runs. When the actual runtime is released I'd like to be able test
my app under the runtime - not just the developement Access 2007 with
the runtime switch. I just can't figure out how to run the app with
just the runtime. Thanks. David

The runtime switch is exactly what you will see under the "real" runtime.
The runtime is a FULL installation of Access. It just has registry entries
to prohibit design capabilities. In fact you cannot even really install the
runtime on the same PC that already has Access 2007 on it because the
installer will see that Access 2007 is present and won't install another
copy.

So...the "EXE that runs" is MSAccess.exe just as it is when you run the file
now.

I guess there's a problem with the runtime (which is why they pulled it)
because I'm getting errors under the runtime that I don't see when I run
Access in runtime mode.
Thanks for the info. David

I'm sure they must have had some reason for pulling the runtime -- that's
not something they'd likely do because "it seemed like a good idea at the
time". Perhaps you will have better luck when they make a corrected, newer,
or difference version available.

What kind of errors?

Is there such a thing, so we can deploy Access 2007 applications to desktops that don't have the full version installed? I searched MSFT.com, and found very little about this subject. -Tom.

A client of mine likes some of the new bells and whistles in Access 2007, and is thinking about converting our A03 format MDB to an A07 format file. However, while some of the users have A07, many do not, and it's not clear when they would get it. His thought was to use the upcoming Access 2007 runtime to allow the users who are still running Office 2003 to be able to run the database. While I use multiple versions of Access on my...

Need a little help trying to figure out how this runtime program works for Access 2007. I created a database on my computer in Access 2007. I then download a copy of Access 2007 Runtime and loaded it on another machine. I think proceeded to try and open the database I created using the Runtime program, but all I get is a blank screen. From my understanding, runtime is supposed to be able to open and perform minimal tasked to databases that...

So the long-awaited Access 2007 runtime SP-1 was released a couple days ago. I think the process will be to load SP1 for your development copy of Office 2007, then recompile your app, download the runtime SP-1, then create install packages using the new runtime, and newly compiled program files. Question is, what about the back-end db's that are in access 2007 (non SP1)? Typically these are not touched when you release new versions of an...

I wouldn't install the Access 2007 runtime on the same system where Access 2007 retail is already installed because it might cause conflicts. I'd either install it on another pc or install it on a session of virtual pc to keep them separate. Normally you'd use the windows installer cleanup utility to clean up the registry after uninstalling office, but that shouldn't be used with office 2007 products. You may have to revert to a previous...

Hi, I'd created a MDE under Access 2003. It is now under testing stage. Some of the users will use Access 2003 runtime and some will use Access 2007 runtime to run this MDE. I installed the Access 2007 runtime on a test machine and place the MDE in the Desktop for user's initial testing. I did not create a trust area for this MDE in the test machine as well as in my development machine. When I tested the MDE using /runtime switch in my...

I have an application in Access 2007. I have split the files and created a distributable package that includes Access 2007 Runtime. The front end is linked to tables in an .mdb file from Access 2003. When I run the application from the same package on another computer without Access, the initial form shows, but when I click on a button to get data, I get a runtime error with no code,...

Hello all, I have a problem with distributing an Access 2007 application with the latest version of Access 2007 Runtime. What is happening that a date field on a form, whose default value is set to today's date using =Date() is not working. Nothing appears in the field for a new record (nor any error). I have tried setting its value from VBA for a new record, using the form's OnCurrent event, but that does not work either. I have tried...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
