Database window is lost - not the typical issue

After setting up an import spec, I went back to my main screen and
found that the database window was gone. I've been working in Access
for 10 years and this has never happened before.

I've seen this message on the group discussions many times and I know
how to start with the shift key or press the f11 key when in the
database, but these things aren't working. I have always had the
"display database window" checked in the start up for this database.
I unchecked it, started the database, then checked it, and restarted.
No go. This window is just gone. There is a horizontal bar, but it
doesn't move, so if the window is somewhere below or to the right of
the horizon on my screen, I can't get to it. What do I do now?

I assume you are doing an import in code or macro? Not sure why the db
window is disappearing but sometimes you need to give Access/Jet time to
catch up. Try adding this code:
' give the DoCmd.Transfer. .. time to process
DoEvents
DbEngine.Idle dbRefreshCache
DoEvents

' then select item in db window
DoCmd.SelectObj ect acTable, , True
See if that works for you. (I'm assuming A2003 or earlier...)

I did a ton of searching to try and find a simple solution to this issue and finally wrote my own, which I am sharing with everyone. In my searching, I did find a very complete and robust solution at http://weblogs.asp.net/asmith/archive/2003/09/15/27684.aspx but it was far more complex then I needed. (I got lost trying to figure it all...

Hey everyone:) We have a critical problem, which I can see that other people also has ran into. In Internet Explorer 7 it is no longer possible to do a window.close after opening a window, without getting a alert message that ask if u want to close the window. This did NOT happen in Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla firefox or other browsers.

Hi all, I have a split database. Both the forms, and the tables are stored on a shared network drive (this is Access 2003). The users use the forms, and the tables on the network drive, there are no local copies. When connection to this drive is lost, Access CRASHES. It does it every single time. Does anyone know if there is a way...

Hi All, I have a database which uses a lot of linked tables from the front-end to both Access and Oracle backend tables. I was just doing fine for months, until I created a new set of forms and a few new tables. Now, whenever I issue out my front end, it starts bloating out and grows like crazy. My normal 7MB file is currently, with...
