You cannot make an .exe file from an Access database! With the purchase of (fairly costly) additional software from Micro$oft, you can make a version that runs on a computer that does not have Access installed. The exact name of this additional software varies, depending on which version of Access you have. But if your main concern is preventing someone from stealing the work you've done on your database, what you can do is create an .MDE version of it. An .MDE version of a database cannot be changed, altered or modified in any way, by the end user or by you! And hence the next paragraph!

First off, make a backup copy of your original database! Put it someplace safe! Under your mattress, in your hip pocket, next to your dog's food bowl! If you lose your original .MDB file, you cannot make changes to your database!

Next, set up everything in your database exactly as you want it to appear to the end user. Go into the VBE (the code window behind one of your forms) and goto Debug -- Compile<YourDatabaseNam e> and click. Access will show you any mistakes you have so that you can correct them.

Once this is done goto Tools -- Database Utilities -- Make MDE file

This is the file you eill use for distribution. It cannot be altered in any way. Whatever capabilities the MDB file had when you made the MDE file will be the capabilities of the MDE.

Let us know if you have any problems/questions.

Good Luck!

I have a table with a primary field and a few other fields. What is the fastest way to do an insert into that table assuming that sometimes I might try to insert a record with a duplicate primary key and want that to fail? I know that if I try a plain insert this will work, but in the case where I am trying to insert a duplicate key, the insert fails (as it should) and an error is logged. I could first do a check to see if there is...

Hi, we have a contention problem because of an application which tries to insert a duplicate row in a table with primary key. This insert fails of course but the locks are not released within this transcation. Why DB2 does not release the X lock after a failed insert??? We use DB2 UDB EEE Version 7.2 Fixpak 9, but we also can reproduce the Problem on DB2 UDB ESE 8.1 Linux Fixpak 4.

My database is set up so people can input parts orders. Sometimes they order the same parts on a monthly basis. I want to be able to duplicate past parts orders and have it pasted in with a new primary key. My first attempt seemed to work(minus a few Microsoft glitches). I used a "duplicate" command button at first. This made a copy of the record but failed to bump up the primary key by 1 number(so it seemed). Actually, the number did...

Hello, I'm trying to install an ASP.Net project using the command line (SDK tools & perhaps IIS Admin scripts?) Does anyone know of an automatic, command-line-driven way, to creat the ASP.Net virtual directory, essentially mimicking whatever VS.Net does when it creates a web project? Ideally it would be as simple as "CreateAspWebApp.bat virtualPath PhysicalPath"

First I wish I knew how this was caused but here is our problem. Sometime in the recent past we got a duplicate table. Here is the result of a pg_dump with a pg_restore for just that table. -- -- TOC entry 59 (OID 11462032) -- Name: order_to_do; Type: TABLE; Schema: public; Owner: www -- Data Pos: 0 --

have a project in which I am entering Serial Numbers and Date codes into a Combo box. Serial numbers are all different. However, they could each have the same Date Code. Each Serial Number has a corresponding Date Code which I then write to a table using VBA. When I try to enter a duplicate date code, it automatically finds the duplicate and will not allow me to add it again to that combo box. How do I configure that combo box so I can enter the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
