Reports - SubReports and Grouping

2 New Member
Hi all

I am trying to create a report which accurately replicates a standard form, so layout is critical.

The required report will be multiple pages, each (Landscape) page must be split horizontally into two sections, upper and lower.

The top section displays information on four records and the lower section is required to display more info on the same four records. This pattern should then repeat over all records, approx 80.

eg.
TOP SECTION
1. NAME ADDRESS WAGES ETC ETC
2. NAME ADDRESS WAGES ETC ETC
3.
4.

BTM SECTION
1. POSITION CERTIFICATE CERT DETAILS ETC
2. POSITION CERTIFICATE CERT DETAILS ETC
3.
4.

I have managed to create two forms that replicate the required top and bottom section, and using grouping on an autonumber ID with interval set to 4, I have almost managed to limit the records on each form to four, unfortunately the first page gives 3 !

I cannot however get both forms to work on the same form, I have tried many combinations of using unbound forms as containers for two subforms, using groups to insert one form into another, but after 5 solid hours I'm just about ready to concede defeat!

Any help appreciated

Appologies for the somewhat incoherent post above!

It was getting pretty late / early!

I have only endeavored to solve the problem using reports, ie utilising one report as the main report and then adding the second report as a subreport in the group footer section. Also using a non-bound report as a container and placing the two reports within this container, I have tried various combinations of inserting in the detail section, group header, footer etc, but all combinations give rise to problems in formatting or record selection.

I'd love to fininsh this project this week if poss.

Any help appreciated

Well JP, I'm not sure if I can help very much as I don't have much experience with this sort of thing.
What I'd try though, is to design a report with space in the detail section for TWO subreports. The subreports would show the different data that you require, and would be sized to show exactly four records max (each).
I can't easily test this out, but it seems logically that it should work.

I have a transaction log file where the DataSet table's Description column is actually delimited into "subcolumns" based upon the transaction id. I would like to parse these into separate fields for reporting purposes and am wondering if anyone knows if this is easily accomplished using the .NET version of Crystal Reports? For example, the description column may be reporting on a dataentry error as follows: TXNCODE: 1010001

Hello, first time posting, so bear with me. I am working on a kennel database and am attempting to generate a report showing complete information for each litter. The finished product I am going for is a report that gives litter specifics at the top (sire, dam, date of birth), followed by a list of the puppies in the litter (sex, markings, reg. #), followed by a list of buyers (name, address, phone). I have attempted to do this through...

I need to create a large book of work for my company, with many different reports using different data. It all needs to come together in one book, to be saved in PDF format. Some of the reports in the book will use snaking columns, so I am wary of using subreports, as I know they do not support snaking. The alternative I guess is to create separate reports. Is there a way to group these separate reports into one to be output to Snapshot?...

Folks, I have four subreports in a report in the detail section. I suppose I could move them to the footer of the report. Anyway, if any of them have data, I want the main report to force a page break. I am trying to use the "hasdata" property for the subreports, but I am getting the generic error indicating property not available for object. How does one tell the main report (using VBA) not to throw in a page break unless the...

I'm having trouble continuously page numbering a large report in MS Access. The report is made up of three separate Access reports which I join together at the end. In the past I have opened the reports and viewed them to see how long they are then go in and manually type the page number and total page number. I am aware of the and lines of code but this resets with each new report.

Hello everyone. I have three reports that I would like to put into one main report. I tried creating the main report and then putting three seperate subreports in the detail section of the parent report, but the page headers in the subreports do not print. After searching, I learned that the reason for this is because subreports do not have anything except group headers/footers and report headers/footers. I then set the record source of the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
