Converting event procedures

5 New Member
I am converting from Office 97 to Office 2007.

Operating system XP pro.

All but one of my databases have converted w/o problems.

In the one that did not, none of the event procedures for buttons on my forms will work. All the macros work fine.

I cannot figure out why.

Thanks,

JR

I had a similar issue recently.
I found that there were some functions and code constructs that were different between the two versions.
The way I handled it was to :
  1. Comment out all the offending code (all if you can't select the relevant stuff) before the conversion.
  2. Convert it.
  3. Remove the comments in safe chunks and fix any errors that come up as you go.
This is necessarily general as I don't have your code, but this whole process can be quite straightforward in most circumstances.

I have a simple form with, among other things, an ADODC data control (called "Adodc1"). The ADO connection to the database tests fine but when I try to add code to any of the Adodc1 control's event procs and then run the app I get a compiler error: "Procedure declaration does not match description of event or procedure having the same name." On clicking Help for the error it says:

Hi! I'm a newbie at DB2 but have 13 years of SQL Server. I need to convert over 100 SQL Server procs to DB2. I haven't had much luck with the IBM Integration Toolkit and want to avoid ER/win templates. Any suggestions. Thanks. Adam

I am surprised at how little info there is on this topic. We converted to DB2 v8.1.1.72 painlessly a few months ago. For specific reasons, we stayed on 32-bit. Our OS is AIX 5.2 and our hardward is 64-bit P570 LPAR. I need to convert the DB2 DB to 64-bit now. Research suggests that this is a simple 'db2iupdt -w64 command' that will soft link our binaries to the 64-bit cousins. All standard migration steps apply such as take full...

I am a newbie using Access 2000. I am using the following test in the txtAlbum OnExit procedure to prevent leaving an empty text box for a required field If (IsNull(txtAlbum.Value)) Or (Len(txtAlbum.Value) < 1) Then MsgBox("Album Title cannot be empty") txtAlbum.SetFocus End If

I am trying to call the click event of a button located in a subform called "Order Subform" from a button in the parent. However, since the subform was made with the wizard, it contains a space in its name, so the syntax that I have found for this has not been working. If anyone knows the syntax for this, I would appreciate it.

under ASP.NET, single stepping in debug mode appears not to stop within event procedures. i.e. 1) Create web page with submit button and event procedure for the click event in the code behind page, 2) Breakpoint in the Page_Load, 3) debug the web page and click the submit button, 4) "step into" under debug several times, 5) The debugger does not stop at any of the statements in the click event handler. A breakpoint is needed in each...

I am using Access 2003, and have an ongoing problem of every once in a while losing an event procedure for a form or control. The procedure's still in the code module, but the form or control's property sheet does not show "". I have to manually put it back, and then everything's fine. Does anyone know what causes this phenomenon, or, at the very least, how to tell if there are any of these "detached" event procedures? It's extremely...

In VB6 we put date values obtained from databases into variants. We can then use statements like IsNull(.EndDate) to check whether a date is set or not. When you put code like this through the vb.net conversion wizard it turns out very messy and you have to make lots of changes by hand. The basic principle is that dates like this have to be represented as Nullable(Of Date) in vb.net. In order to make life simpler, I have introduced two simple...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
