Report footer calculation

4 New Member
Greetings,

I am creating a frequency report. I have 41 records, each record has sub-records from a source table. I am trying to detemine the frequency that each sub-record appears in a main record. So, if a sub-record appears 5 times, the formula would be 5/41=0.12.

The frequency calculation I currently have is residing in the footer of a report listed by sub-record. The footer displays sub-record name, total observations, and the frequency. The problem is that I can't get the denominator constant. I want the denominator to be the max number of records, but as it is in the footer, it is using the highest record that the sub-record appears in. Thus, if sub-record A appears five times, but the highest value is in record number 13, the calculation becomes 5/13=0.38; when the desired is 5/41=0.12.

Is there a way to point the denominator to the total records, rather than it looking at the highest sub-record value?

Thanks for any help!

Getting back to your question :
Can you post the table MetaData of your data. I didn't find your explanation very clear as to how the data works together.
Here is an example of how to post table MetaData :
Table Name=tblStudent
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Field; Type; IndexInfo
  2. StudentID; Autonumber; PK
  3. Family; String; FK
  4. Name; String
  5. University; String; FK
  6. Mark; Numeric
  7. LastAttendance; Date/Time
Also, what are the (relevant) controls (particularly their formulas) that are in your report? Perhaps your problem is simply accessing the wrong item in your formula, but we can't tell without seeing it.
