Force a report to wait before formatting?

Is there a way to force access to wait a specified time before making a
calculation?

On my report there is a subreport with a number of calculation on it. One if
which is a count of certain records using a text control with a running sum.
When I display the subreport on my main report, I can see the correct count
but when I make a reference to that control on the main report, I simply get
the number 1. I am sure that the reference to the control is correct as I
have several other references to other controls on the subreport and they
work fine. I suspect the problem is that access reads the subreport control
before the running sum calculation/count is complete thus displays 1.

The main report needs to reference the running sum total in
the subreport's footer section.

I have set the control on my main report to reference both the calculated
control on the subreport (which is located in the subreports report footer)
and to reference the running sum control on the subreports detail section
and both give the same result - 1:

=IIf(IsError([rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormCount]),"","("
& [rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormCount] & ")")

where [rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormCount] is the
control in the subreport report footer

also tried:

=IIf(IsError([rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormDateCou nt]),"","("
& [rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormDateCou nt] & ")")

where [rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormDateCou nt] is the
running sum control in the detail section of the subreport.

If I run this subreport as a stand alone report,
([rptSnowAnalysis SubreportPastYe ar].[Report]![txtStormCount] displays the
correct number.

The only other thing I can think of is you are using A97 or
earlier (or maybe A2K?) and you have code in a report header
event that references the report footer total text box.

If that's not the case, then maybe(?) your main report text
box is not in the same section as the subreport.

I hope someone will tell me how to do this without having to do any VB as I know nothing in that area. I am a rank beginner in using Access. I have created a database consisting of student athletes.  I have now learned how to join two different tables in a query so that I might generate a report. Specifically, student athletes at a community college are required to graduate with an AA or AS degree.  Consequently, various steps are in...

tblCourses one to many to tblEvents. A course may have an intro workshop (a type of event), a mid course workshop, a final exam. Or any combination. Or something different in the future. At the moment the printed output is usually going to Word. It's turning into an unholy mess, because I'm having to prepare umpteen different Word templates, and the queries that drive them, depending on what events a course has.

Here's one that's going to leave me bald before long - I have a report (no headers or footers, small detail section) that runs normally when I open it from the database window. When I run it from code: DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt_Name", acViewPreview I get five records on the first page, and only one record on the second

Hi, Considering code below. Will it make GC to actually collect. One application creates new instances of a class from 3rd party assembly in a loop (it has to). That class doesn't have .Dispose or any similar method. I want to make sure GC keeps up with the loop. My reasoning if Thread.Sleep(1000) is called; GC will take priority it do its work, right? GC.Collect(); GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers(); System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000);

I have a form that when you click the "Generate Report" submit button, it will force download a CSV file, required for this project. On the very same page you also have a "Search" submit button, when you press it it should generate search results in a new page. However, when you click the "Generate Report" submit button, the moment you try to THEN click the "Search" submit button, the "Search" submit button NEVER goes to a new page but...

Now this ought to be a simple matter. But nothing's simple in the Net world, I'm finding. In vb6 you could use "!" to force text to upper case in the format function. I've searched the vb.net help system and can't find any help on formatting text. There's plenty of help formatting numbers, dates, and times, though. I'm in the phase of converting from 6 to Net and it seems that even the simplest thing is very, very complicated. And it...

Hello, I have a main report with a Record Source, a DateToday table, that has the current Month and Year. I have about 60 queries, each pulling different data via ODBC, that I am creating subreports that go on the main report. The problem is that when I run the report the data shows on the screen but not the print preview. I am aware that the main report is not linked to the subreports because of the Link Master, Child Fields issue....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
