Tab Control Coercing Subform Sizes?

Posted this on microsoft.publi c.access a few days ago, but no
nibbles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've got a form with a humongous tab control on it. Nine tabs,
some
of them with 3 or 4 subforms.

I'm going nuts trying to fit everything on to a user's 1024x768
laptop. I'll re-size various objects, save the form, and then
open
it to find the objects *seem* to have changed size on me.

I'm not on drugs and I'm pretty sure that stage one Alzheimer's
is
still a few years away.... but I wouldn't rule out sheer
stupidity.

Can anybody comment on the possibility of subforms spontaneously
resizing within a tab control?

No Form_ReSize() processing needed... just one-time static
locations/
sizes.

I'm not sure I can help any, but will try to give you some information
that might help.

I have done the same thing (had one form that had a dozen tabs with
mutiple subforms per tab for a total of 30 or so subforms. You start
running out of data space quickly and have to start dynamically
delinking subforms (you get max databases open messages eventually).
When the user clicked on a tab, the subforms in all invisible tabs
were decoupled (parent child relationship emptied) and the subforms
for the opened tab were relinked (with exceptions as necessary for
performance reasons).

All that is just to say that having subforms resize dynamically did
not happen - at least to me - every. So I would suspect that you need
not be suspicious that the number of subforms as the culprit. I
probably would start finding out when the sizes change by logging the
sizes of all the subform controls. I'd log when the form opens and
closes to start with. That might lead you to discover what is going
on.

I have a text box control on a form, the value of which is calculated (concatenated) from entries on a subform. Accordingly, I've set the control's locked property to true and the tab stop property to false. The latter setting makes the control completely disappear. FYI, the form is dialog border style. When set to sizable border style, the control only appears when the form is re-sized much larger. I have a similar form with a...

I have created two forms: frmBrowseNegsMainform and frmBrowseNegsSubform. I put a subform control on the first of these. The SourceObject property for the subform control is, of course, frmBrowseNegsSubform. I would like to perform an ascending or descending sort on any of the 7 columns shown in datasheet view in the subform control. I've been unsuccessful. Is there something tricky about sorting in subform controls?

Hi, (Using Access 2000) I have two tables, similar to Customers and Orders. (Not an exact parallel, but works for this example.) On a form showing customer data, there is a tab control. One of the tabs has a subform showing order data (in datasheet view). On the same tab there is an unbound textbox (next to the datasheet). I placed a

Hi, Just trying to get my head around tab controls, is there anywhere which would describe the structure of how they work? I seem to be ok so far, being able to check which page I'm on etc... but I'm at a loss when trying to access controls inside the tabs. If I try to access the form directly (!...etc.) I get an error that the form can't be found. I'm not sure how I can use parent/child relationships to get at the (sub)forms which...

I would like to have a tab control at the top of the form which would allow the user to select (PERSONAL), (TRAINING),(DISIPLINARY),and (SICKLEAVE) Tabs. Each Tab should open a FORM and display the relavant TABLE of records tied to the Employee being viewed in the...

I am using the following code in my TabControl to manage subform loads. The code assigns the subForms SourceObject. - Do I also need code to DeAssign the SourceObject when leaving the Tab, I'm thinking the Table will stay open otherwise ??? - Do I also need to use code to Assign the Child&Master Links, or can I just type the names into the subForms Control Property and just depend on the SourceObject to link to Table???

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
