Basic Doubts in Creating Subform

41 New Member
Hi,

I am New to this forum. I need steps that i do in creating subform.

In main form, i have one table fields like vendor, account, due amount, balance amount and Requisition_id which is autonumber field.

I tried to create subform by using table or that table's form which are having autonumber field and this is to be linked with Mainform autonumber field(requisiti on_id).

But the following errors comes.

"You can't assign value to this object"
-The object may be a control on a read-only form.
-The object may be on a form that is open in Design View.
-The value may be too large for this field.

I checked above three correction, but everything is correct.

Now, i want to be sure in creating subform. So, now my doubt is..

-What are the steps should i follow to create subform?
-What are the condition should be checked?

And, even when i checked in the table, the Autonumber field(Requisiti on_id) should have '+' symbol which shows related information. But, there is no such a symbol. It may be relationship problem. If it is relationship problem, how & where i should create relationship.

Totally, I am embarracing myself with creating Subform.

Hence, Can anybody describe me the use of subform with one small example CLEARLY..?

Thanks in advance.

To create a subform design the form first from the table that the records will be pulled from.

Then open the main form in design view and drag the subform tool on to the form. A wizard will open asking you to chose which form to put in the subform. Chose the one you've just created.

Step through the wizard and it will prompt you for the connection.

Hi,

Thanks for your information. The thing which you told already done in the same way. But shows some errors which i needed to clear.

Anyhow...I found myself the error. The problem is linking the field between main form & subform.

Now its working fine.

Thanks a lot...

Hi, hopefully people can help: I am creating a rather simple database for a kids holiday camp. I have two main tables: tblLData (Leaders info) and tblKData (kids info). What I have done is using a Query, combined two fields of the each table into one (Year Group & Group into GroupName). Using these fields, I have made a form for the Leaders so that when they input the Year Group they are in charge with and the specific group, a subform...

If you look at this page on relational database design: http://r937.com/relational.html And scroll down to the "Many-to-Many Relationships" Section you will see a common database structure. I can not find a simple way to create forms and reports in Access that allow you to enter and display data in a structure such as this.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
