why do i get a key conflict when I add a record to a linked table?

Hi,

if I add a record to a table in my database, everything goes well.
When I then place the table in another database and link to it from my
database I suddenly get a key conflict when I add a record.
Nothing else changed.
How to solve?

thanks for any help

must have been a glitch of Access....
and it took me quite some days to find out.

The autonumbering field must have caused the key conflict
I finally solved it by removing the field from the table,
compress the database
and add the same autonumbering field.
Bizarre.

As if it confused what I did with synchronization of a replicated database.

This email is semi-off topic; but documents a problem and the server-side solution when using MS Access as a client to many (all?) database servers. I decided to post the problem/solution because the MS Access error message is very misleading. For those of you creating applications using PostgreSQL with MS Access clients: PostgreSQL will allow bit fields to hold null values. I consider this to be valuable because a null boolean field...

Hi, I have a ms access table table which is linked to a mysql database table. I have used a ms access form to edit records. However, when I attempt to edit a record I get a write conflict error in ms access. I am using MS ACCESS 2002. The error is 'the record has been changed by another user since you started editi it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made'. The Save record button is greyed out so I...

Hello, I have a main form with one subform. I have a command button on the main form to delete the current record. Below is my code. The tables on which the main form and subform are based cascade deletions and updates, so getting rid of the record in the table for the main form should delete any corresponding records in the table for the subform. Everything appears to be working correctly in this code from the standpoint of the tables. ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
