In the setup project I am trying to create, I am wanting to search to see if
DirectX 8 is installed on the local machine. I figured the best way to

I am having a real problem with the Launch conditions in VS .NET and can
only come to the conclusion that it is a bug.
It states quite emphatically in the MSDN that Launch Conditions WILL be
executed in the order added. This statement holds true if every Condition
has a InstallURL value set. but not if there is no InstallURL value.

I have a c# windows form that talks to a web service on a server that then
can talk to multiple "agents" on different machines using web service calls.
I want to be able to launch an application of the users choice on the
remove, "agent" machine.
I've discovered that Process.Start() won't work because it runs under
asp.net and it will launch any "process" but if the application has a
windows UI it will not show.

examples I've found either explicity use a file name or use
the OpenFileDialog. When you drag a MS Word document over
MS Word, it launches and opens the document. I would like
my App to launch and open a document (if it has the correct
extension). What is the launch event sequence and where do

I wrote a JAVA program which uses the JAVA API JDOM 1.0 (of this site
www.jdom.org)
I put the archive jdom.jar in the directory /usr/share/java/jdom.jar
and I added this path in the CLASSPATH variable.
The program runs normally when I launch it in a unix shell.
Now, I want to launch this JAVA program in a PHP program with system()

Hello there,
I am not asking how to impersonate a process within C# windows
application. I already know that, in C# v2.0, you can easily achieve it
using ProcessStartInfo. You can run a process or call external program
as of different user.
The problem of that design is that the mother application is still
running as current user. I know that less privilege is more secure.

Hi, I'm writing a service which has to monitor a database looking for
new feeds (basically a few hundred thousand rows with a common id).
When it finds a new feed I can either:
1) Process it on the current thread (not ideal as the app must be seen
to be responding to new feeds straight away, and this processing can
take up to an hour).
2) Launch a new thread to process the feed.
3) Launch a new process to process the feed.
