How to run MsAccess procedures in background while they are scheduled

1 New Member
I need help to schedule a MsAccess procedure I want the procedure to run in backgrund and not the MsAccess file to be open during the time when the procedure runs. The procedure in MsAccess picks data from an oracle database and then create excelfiles. It works good while using the scheduler in MsAccess, but when I do that the MsAccess opens first and I dont want that to happen. I would like to have a bat-file(procedure. bat) scheduled to run every day at 6 am for instance. It works fine if I just run the bat-file from dosprompt for instance but how can I schedule so the file runs daily without opening during MsAccess during the time when the bat-fils runs?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Roland

Access can't run procedures unless it is open.

I'm doing some work for a company that has an auction site running in coldfusion. They're not real happy with it, and it needs a major overhaul, so I'm looking at redoing it, and while I'm at it, might as well move to PHP (for a variety of reasons - not trying to reopen the PHP -vs- CFM thing again :). Anyway, so I'm looking at this system, and there are no "scheduled tasks" (it's win2kas). How do you write a server app that needs to...

I've got a .BAT file that I use for executing various MS Access apps that I wrote way back in the days of 2.0. It's evolved over time, but it still contains a number of possible paths to MSACCESS.EXE, tries them all, takes the first one it finds, and dies if none is found. Seems to me like at some time or another I was able to clone this .BAT file and implement it with no path. Something about MSACCESS being a registered application.

At this moment I use MsAccess and i can build about every databound application i want. Who knows about a serious open source alternative? Because Windows will be a client platform for some time, i prefer a solution that (also) supports Windows. On the net I found a number of products that i looked at, but none of them gave me the impression of a serious candidate at this moment (KNoda, Gnome DB Manager, InterBase...). 2 additional...

Our webhost (www.usbusinessweb.net) had a W2K IIS5 server crash after a scheduled hard-boot occurred during a ms-security patch install overnight. They couldn't get the server working again so they transferred our site www.orbisoft.com to a new W2003 IIS6 server they set up. That was a week ago. Since that transfer, all of our ASPX pages that use Access2000 databases have stopped working.

I am working on an app with an Access2002 frontend and Sql2005 backend. I have to use integrated security. I want to prevent my users from altering data in another way than via the frontend. It looks to me that the mechanism to do it is the Sqlserver sp_setapprole procedure. Works fine when programming directly to Sqlserver, and also een Access Data Project at first sight seems to work as it should via the call to the sp_setapprole proc....

I have a bit of a problem I'm hoping someone can shed some light on... I have a VB.Net console application written in VS 2003 that produces a .exe file that now sits on a Windows 2000 server directory. This exe does the following 3 things: 1.) Using the VB Interaction SaveSetting() method, it programmatically updates the system registry under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE key and saves a directory location used by a PDF driver (so that...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
