Designing a form in Access

121 New Member
I am trying to make an interface to run a utility I have devloped. The user would need to be able to choose from about 6 different macros they could run.

My question is, is there a way to use nicer buttons than the standard gray square ones in Access. It is for a very important client - so I would really like to add an extra-level of polish. I would like to use more web-style buttons. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

I believe you can use an image as the background for a button. If not then you can turn an image into a button with the On Click event.

Thanks. I can see the option for "On Mouse Move" and "On Double Click" in the properties of the button, but it doesn't seem to let me assign a file/picture for it.

You must be looking at the event properties, go to either the format properties tab or the all tab, there's a picture property there.

When design a class, should always make it "derivable" as a base class? Is there really a situation that the designed class not "derivable"? When should make a member "protected"? Only when allowing the derived class(es) directly access it? Should destructor always be virtual? Thanks for your comments!

Hi all, Having problems designing a template-class. I'll describe my scenario first then show what I've come up with so far: Need a class to provide pointer/array-like access to an area of physical memory located on a piece of custom hardware - this memory is only accessible using machine specific i/o so I want to hide all this in a class. I'm imagining

I am an Access developer working mostly with Access as front-end to ms sql server databases. I am now leaving traditional asp for asp.net and I am fashinated by all the new possibilities. I am also thinking about using Visual studio dot net in the very future. Last evening however I thought about whether it is possible to develop an unbound form i Access 2003 in such a way that it is possible to use the same code when I design a...

I am having trouble designing the tables and establishing relationships for a survey database for the purpose of evaluating speakers for a variety of events. After every event, the attendants are asked to fill out an anonymous survey assessing the overall effectiveness of the seminar (on a scale of 1-10) in addition to giving a 1-10 rating for each speaker and associated content at the event. I'd like to set it up so that I can enter in...

Hi All, I'm having quite a bit of trouble designing a search tool to work with my database. I have found lots of examples from Microsoft Templates to Allen Browne's sample search form. The latter looks very promising, but I need to incorporate a combo box with "Nurse Care Managers" and have it filter by this. (Right now, I'm being asked to enter a parameter value and I can't figure out how to fix this.) I need to be able to search...

What sorts of things should I look out for if I'm designing a webpage specifically for use on mobile phones or PDA's? Obviously smaller is better (in terms of the overall page) but there's probably a lot more to this. I have an example of my first attempt at: http://swiftys.org.uk/shopping.html This is simply a non-functioning capture of the page, showing how far I haven't got.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
