This Recordset is not updatable

26 New Member
Hi,

I am upgrading the current ms access .mdb file to a .adp with sql server back end.

I have been converted tables, forms, reports to .adp..
The tables are reflected at the server.

a)

I am unable to edit or add any records from the forms, when the data is viewable from sql server connection.

The error that's displayed on the status bar is "This recordset is not updatable"..

The file is working fine in .mdb mode.. The tables are directly editable in the sql server.. But thro forms I am unable to edit..

I checked the form properties in the "data tab"..

The "recordset type" is set to "updatable snapshot". (There are only 2 options in this property 1. snapshot 2. updatable snapshot)

"Allow Edits" Property is set to "Yes"
"Allow Deletions" Property is set to "Yes"
"Allow Additions" Property is set to "Yes"

"Data Entry" Property is set to "No" (If I set to yes I see a blank form when I run..)

Pls advice on how to get the forms working with sql server backend. Where should I change the recordset, if I have to do that, when all the above property looks fine..

b) The second problem I have is I am unable to Import the queries from .mdb to .adp.

If Stored Procedure the only way.. I have calculated fields which I am using it in the .mdb file. I am directly assigning to the "controlsou rce" property to the respective fields were I choose the queries for record source.. How do I do this with .adp?

If I do a import from sql server thro DTS , the .mdb queries are converted to tables and the calculated fields are not recognized, hence displaying "invalid column".

Kindly advice...

Thanks & Regards,
Ruth.

At a guess I would say this is a SQL Server problem and has to do with the permissions that have been set up as in INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE permissions on the tables.

Hello, I have two questions: 1. The file-size of my mdb-Database grew extremely large after having written a lot of VBA-code. I know about the /decompile-option tried it .... it did not work. Why? what to do now? 2. I have a query producing an updatable dynaset of data. When I tried opening it in a VBA-routine like

I have a very basic query that Access 2000 will not allow to be updatable. I've gone through all the situations in the help file where data cannot be updated, and I don't see that this query belongs to any of those. I have checked all permissions, locks, etc.. - can't find anything out of the ordinary that would explain it. Deleted the DistinctRow - no change. The SQL version is below - anyone notice the problem or have any...

I have a postgresql backend with an access front end and I am trying to redefine the recordset of the form to use an ADO recordset. The problem is that the CursorType always changes to AdOpenStatic, even if I choose adOpenDynamic. If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. The form works great for viewing, but I cannot update or insert any new records. Below is the code I am using: connectstr = "DSN=SAP_PG;uid=postgres" Set conn...

I've been reading the newsgroups and most of the solutions for this message are simple and obvious but unfortunately don't solve my problem. I have an MS-Access 2002 ADP application that connects to SQL server. The application is deployed to 100+ users and in most cases works fine. I have a sub-set of users (~20) who have an auditing function. They review transactions entered by the other 100+ and accept or reject them. There are a...

Hey guys...the following code doesn't seem to work refering to the line It says the field is not updatable...I've never updated a table from a module before so I'm not sure if I am doing this right but the code is pasted below (the variable 'x' has nothing to do with anything as of now, it's something I will need later)(also no need to read the commentary it's more for my own purposes since this is still a learning experience for me):

Configuration: Access 2002 and SQL Server 2000 using a .ADP Project. I would VERY MUCH appreciate anyone's input into this problem I'm having. I have a form in Access that does not permit the user to add/change/delete any data, apparently as a result of adding a GROUP BY clause to a View used indirectly as the form's Record Source. I really don't believe that this restriction needs to be there, and I'm hoping that someone can suggest...

When she tries, she is getting the message "Recordset is not Updatable." I asked her to put the database file and the excel file on the server so I can try it from my computer and everything worked perfectly fine from my computer. Does anybody know what the problem is from her computer and how I can...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
