Fixing the "Couldn't use <filename>; file already in use" does not last

2 New Member
This happens regardless of the Version of Access. Users accessing a database on a shared folder get the "Couldn't use <filename>; file already in use."

Everyone without exception has access to the folder. The folder is NOT read-only.

The solution I have found is to move ALL files to another folder, DELETE the original folder and RENAME the new folder with the exact name of the old folder. Problem solved. Everyone accesss the DB.

HOWEVER this lasts about two weeks and the problem occurs again. Any ideas?

Hi. Is <filename> the name of your .mdb?

This doesn't explain your error but can you check in Tools - Options - Advanced that the Default Open Mode is set to Shared and Not Exclusive.

This sounds like an OS problem to me rather than an Access one.
Would you like one of us to move it to the Windows forum for you? It may get more response there.

Hi, when extending a build in class, what does the constructor __init__(...) have to return? and how does the constructor call its base-class construtor? (or is this done automatically?) I want to derive from "file" to create a class that reads record from a binary file:

Hello, I'm not a perl programmer but I can kind of hack my way through some simple scripts. What I am trying to do is get it so a line break <br> is automatically placed when I hit the return key in a text box in this script: http://mosaikum.org/sonst/pws.html It will add the <br> automatically to the Add Story function, but not the edit text function. I'm trying to get it to do it in the edit

Hello Could anyone please explain how I can pass more than one arguement/parameter value to a function using <asp:linkbutton> or is this a major shortfall of the language ? Consider the following code fragments in which I want to list through all files on a directory with a link to download each file by passing a filename and whether or not to force the download dialog box to appear.

If I do the following, the browse text box still cannot see C:/hello world/test.txt. <input type="file" name="fileName" value="C:/hello world/test.txt" size=80> I realize we couldn't set the default filename for security reasons, and browsers don't support that. (http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/forms/file.html#value). I really need to implement this feature, any workarounds to the problem?

I am stuck on this. It ought to be a simple reason as to why this is problematic, in that it works on smaller groups of data (say under 40 records), but doesn't on larger groups of records (40+). I'm displaying 9 columns in a datagrid, and have a radiobutton at the top of the page that says Web, Excel & Word. Web is selected by default. If you click one of the other two buttons, this code is executed: Private Sub...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
