Bit of an obscure one here, so please bear with me. I have two copies
of a database which should be identical. Both have a complex view
which is identical. I can open the views and the data is as expected
and match. I can query it in several ways as detailed below. The 5th
version of the simple query below based on the second copy of the view
fails, but works under the first copy.
/*1 Statement below works*/
SELECT *
FROM AgentHierarchy

I previously posted re. this, but thought I'd try again with a summary of
facts.
I have an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL Server 7 back end. There is a view that
is linked to the database via ODBC and has been in place for several years
without any performance problems.
Recently I added a couple of fields to the output of the view, and it became
very slow when scrolling. When just opened in the database window, the
linked view takes about...

I have an Access 2000 MDB file with a SQL 7 back end. I have a main table
with 50,000 records; and I have a selections table with 50,000 records for
each machine that uses the database (about 25-50). This allows each user to
have their own set of selections.
The selections table has three fields: ID (int), Sel (bit), MachName
(varchar). ID and MachName comprise the primary key.
I have a view that combines the main table and the entries...

Problem: getting SQL0181N for queries on nicknames to remote
Union-All-View.
Can't see what I'm doing wrong yet, maybe someone has seen this before.
Environment: UDB ESE 8.1 + FIXPAK 9A, on Solaris 8.1, with 64-bit
instances.
I have a NICKNAME called REMOTE_DW.T_MYTABLE which points to a
"union-all-view".
Several other nicknames exist to regular-tables and regular views in

I was wondering what the VBA code would be to test to see if a view
already exists, or how to overwrite a view if it already exists.
Also, how would I do the same for a regular table?
Database: Access 97
Connection: ADO 2.0
Please reply to my email aswell as the group if possible.

I just converted an A2002 database to A2000. In the new database,
database objects appear in the database window for all views except
Details. When Details is selected, the database window goes blank. Does
anyone know why this happens, and how to correct it?
TIA

I am using MS Access 2003, and I typed in a query in SQL view which was working fine. Now when I open it, it gives me
the error "Join expression not supported". Apparently, Access "fixed" it for me.
Unfortunately, I can't correct it because when I click "OK", the window disappears. I don't see any way to open the
query directly in SQL view, and both the Design and Data views exit as soon as I close the error dialog.
Is there any way...

Our company is now trying to make a "standard" of creating a base
view for each user table. This initiative is suggested as a good
practice by a data modeling consultant who is helping us to build DW
logical/physical model. He pointed out that the work and risk of
making a database change will be reduced by using the "base view".
Since this base view is just a selection of all user table's columns,
as DBA, I don't see any reasons for...

Hi All,
I started developing in Access, and people took notice and so we're
starting to migrate into our corporate's bigger Oracle system.
I'll still be using my developed Access front ends, but will be
migrating my back ends to Oracle ODBC.
1. Does anyone have recommendations for books or web resources for
general rules/guidelines/help on doing this? I haven't found a good

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
