Queries: Problem with BETWEEN statement when referring to table

16 New Member
Hi all,

In my query I am trying to select values from my table ("data table") which lie between two values that are stored in a different table ("Contract list double 71")

My Code is:

SELECT [Contract list double 71].[71 contracts] AS Contract, [Data table].eclass
FROM [Data table],[Contract list double 71]
WHERE ((([Data table].eclass) Between [Contract list double 71]![From] & [Contract list double 71]![To]));

But it informs me about a Syntax Error. Is there a way to work around this?

Thanks

Try using the (.) instead of the (!) :
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. SELECT [Contract list double 71].[71 contracts] AS Contract, [Data table].eclass
  2. FROM [Data table],[Contract list double 71]
  3. WHERE ((([Data table].eclass) Between [Contract list double 71].[From] & [Contract list double 71].[To]));

GREAT!

This worked out fine. Though it made me change the & to an AND as well.

Anyways, thanks a lot!

I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance problems. Details: - Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project ) - Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who creates the commands?) creates and noticed:

Hello: I am new to T-SQL programing, and relativly new to SQL statements in general, although I have a good understanding of database theory. I'm a little confused as to the fundamental differences between a view and a query, or rather, when it is more appropriate to use one vs. the other. It seems to me that most select queries can be implemented as views, and I can't see the downside to doing so.

Hi First up, I am using MS Access 2002. I have a database which records analyst rating changes for a list of companies on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the database has been set up (by my predecessor, I hasten to add) so that each day it creates a copy of the record for each company, changes the date to today's date, and prompts the user for any changes of ratings on that day. The resulting data table grows by approx 600 records per...

I've been stumped on this for quite a while. I don't know if it's so simple that I just can't see it, or it's really possible. (Obviously, I HOPE it IS possible.) I'm trying to get my queries to run from VB. My pass-thru query retrieves data from our AS/400 that I use to build a local table (on my PC). My pass-thru and local do in fact work together when I run them interactively. But I want, no make that NEED, to run them from VB. ...

I have 2 separate queries, which effectively are the same except they draw data from separate tables. Both tables are (design-wise) identical, only the data is different. for each query, there are 2 tables with a standard LEFT JOIN. One field of the query is calculated, looking for a NULL in one table, and then using a field from the second table in that case. One query looks like this: PARAMETERS Text ( 255 ); SELECT...

I know this question has been asked. And the usual answer is don't use cursors or any other looping method. Instead, try to find a solution that uses set-based queries. But this brings up several questions / senarios: * I created several stored procedures that take parameters and inserts the data into the appropriate tables. This was done for easy access/use from client side apps (i.e. web-based).

Hello all, So I'm knee deep in this import utility program, and am coming up with all sorts of "gotcha's!". 1st off. On a "Find Duplicates Query", does anyone have a good solution for renaming the duplicate records? My thinking was to take the results of the duplicate query, and somehow have it number each line where there is a duplicate (tried a groups query, but "count" won't work), then do an update query to change the duplicate to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
