Access crashes in crosstab query

Hi,

Im trying to create a crosstab query with fewer than 255 headings
(about 50), but it crashes when I try to save after writing the heading
names in the query property "column headings". My list is pretty long,
but far from having 255 entries.

I specify which columns I want so that it doesn't give me an error
message because a field has no valid data attached to it.

Has anyone ever come across this bug before?

Thanx,

Mike

Suggestions:

1. Make sure the Name AutoCorrect boxes are unchecked under:
Tools | Options | General | Name AutoCorrect
Then compact the database to get rid of this junk:
Tools | Database Utilities | Compact/Repair
Explanation of why:
http://allenbrowne.com/bug-03.html

2. Use the correct delimiter.
If you open your table in design view, what is the Data Type of the field
that supplies the column headings?
- Text? Add quotes around each value in the Column Headings, e.g.:
"Dan", "Beth", "Jodie"
- Date/Time? Add # around each value in Column Headings, e.g.:
#1/1/2006#, #2/1/2006#, #3/1/2006#
- Number or Currency? Don't use any delimiter in Column Headings, e.g.:
1,2,3,4

3. Try typing the list in SQL View.
If the suggestions above don't fix it, just type a couple of values into the
Column Headings property. Then switch the query to SQL View (View menu) and
add the remaining values there in the PIVOT clause.

I've been working around this for years (I believe), so I figured someone here might know: Why won't a crosstab query accept a value from a form reference? I have a crosstab query that compiles data for Months of the year. I have a stacked select query on top of that crosstab query that uses the latest 2 months data and exports it to a fixed length flat file. I may be asking a bit much here but is there a...

Hi All, I'm using MS Access 2003 in a Windows XP environment. I've created an aging report for my department that is based on what I call the "Main query" with an IIf statement that allows the user to define the dates into 30 day aging segments. Then I've created a crosstab query which counts the results. How I'd like the report to appear is like this: Entity_Type | 1 to 30 days | 31 to 60 days | Over 60 days OPFACT ...

Rather than using the Access design view change the view to SQL. I am going to attempt to outline the general syntax used for SQL queries in Access. Angle brackets <> are used in place of some syntax elements you must supply. The description of these elements will be in the contained in the angle brackets. Square brackets are used to show which parts are optional. Basic SELECT query SELECT <field list> FROM <table/query name(s)>

Folks, could anyone advise ... Is there a significant difference in crosstab capabilities in Access and Excel? Using Office XP 2002 ... to produce a crosstab report I developed it in Excel from a query datasource in Access. One good thing about this was the ability to select both a date header and then a specific time header for the crosstab value. Try as I might, I cannot see a way to replicate this in Access either directly using a...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
