unbounded MS Word document in an Access Report

All,

I would like to create a professional looking cover sheet with
information loaded from an MS Access Report. I created the cover sheet
in MS Word that includes my company logo, etc.

My only problem is when I insert the Word doc, the sizing is
different. (i.e. the word document's width is 7.5", but when I insert
it into the Access report - it's about 5")

Under the OLE unbounded object Properties, I set the SIZE MODE to
"STRETCH". Resizing does work to an extent, but not good enough.

Other than that, I don't know what else to try.

Am I reinventing the wheel? Is it possible to create a professional
looking report (cover sheet) in the Report - design view using the
tools in the Toll Box?

I've wasted a lot of valuable time... any ideas?

Tom,

At first I thought you were being a wise-guy, or maybe you didn't
understand my problem...

(Serves me right for thinking too much!)

Turns out you were spot-on!

I did some research and learned about MS WORD field codes and the
DOCVARIABLE as well as OBJECTS (WORD/PPOINT/OFFICE, etc).

I played around a little between ACCESS and WORD and in no time, I was
able to solve the problem.

Thanks for helping me solve my own problem (you learn more that way).

I'm now working on loading PPOINT slides directly from an Access Query
(formatting, Tables, etc). Pretty soon I'll fire my admin office
because everything will be automated :-)

....Just Kidding

I've got an ACCESS 2000 application that I'm developing. One of the outputs of this app will be to generate a series of 'jobs' which corresponds to a record in the database. Each record will be printed on its own page which I've set up as a report and that's working fine. Accompanying each job is a Word (or Excel) document. Most jobs will have Word (or Excel) documents unique to the record. I know how to establish a hyperlink field...

tblCourses one to many to tblEvents. A course may have an intro workshop (a type of event), a mid course workshop, a final exam. Or any combination. Or something different in the future. At the moment the printed output is usually going to Word. It's turning into an unholy mess, because I'm having to prepare umpteen different Word templates, and the queries that drive them, depending on what events a course has.

Dear All, I have lately strugled more and more with Access, what started as a simple database has brought me to the fundaments of Access. I need to transfer fields from various tables to a word-document to make a decent report (transferring a report from access to word means a lot of loss on lay out, which I find a clear showcase of microsoft's socalled software quality).

I had some access 97 reports that I used to publish to MS Word that worked before we upgraded to Access 2K and Word 2K. Although there were some minor discrepancies, I was able to tweak the access reports and fix those problems. After the upgrade to Office 2K, when I publish the report to MS Word a ..rtf document is created instead of a .doc document and it has many problems. i.e., lines don't show up, words are missing, sentences are...

Apologies for the newbie question. I have created a vb.net program for my company that is designed to work with Word Templates (about forty of them that we commonly use) that are selected by the user and populated (with info from an Access database) at run-time, then saved as Word documents. The program I have coded works fine -- it does what I need it to do. But it has two problems: (1) it runs very slowly, and (2) it does not seem to...

We have a fairly good sized Access database that contains some info on the children our agency sees. We also have 40+ templates that require some info from the database be inputted into them, such as the name of the child, their address, etc. At this time staff will look into the database for that info and enter it into the form. Management wants to automate this a bit so each of these templates is a report. That leads to my question. ...

I am updating a VB4.0 quote generation program to VB.net. The old program takes user inputs, performs calculations, saves the data to Access databases and uses Crystal Reports 5.0 to generate a quote. A while back users obviously wanted to be able to edit/e-mail the quote (these ancient Cyrstal 5.0 reports don't allow PDF creation) so I modified the old VB4.0 code to allow users to save the Crystal Report as Word document which they can...

Hello, I have a query set up in Access. I run it monthly, changing "date of test". I would like this query to be merged with a Word document so that the cover letter is created in Word, the fields from Access are automatically filled into the Word document. The query could be anywhere from 0-5000 names, one cover letter per name. AND to this cover letter for each applicant, there has to be attached a two page document. How in the world can...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
