I need to set up a rather liberal Parameter Query

56 New Member
I am trying to set up a query that will allow the user to enter just one or maybe three parameters for a specific field.

eg...

query to prompt user for proj#

user wants to pull proj 1 5 and 9 all at once the first time, next time they only want to pull proj 12.

when I tried putting 1 or 5 or 9

I get 0 results

when I tried putting 1, 5, 9

I get 0 results

Is there a way to have it filter all three with out running the query 3 separate times?

The plan is to make this data available to a refreshable spreadsheet, so the user will never actually see the query itself, just the results. I want to be able to have the query pull only the information needed so no filtering is needed in excel.

Is this possible????

Yeah,

it's possible using VBA and functions that generate SQL conditions...

But it's hard to do... With very specific construction of your queries to perform this task....

In all cases you need to use VB for delete the query and to recreate it like you want... Other way isn't possible!

Best regards

I've been bad about documentation so far but I'm going to try to be better. I've mostly worked alone so I'm the only one, so far, who's suffered from my bad habits. But I'd like other programmers to have an easier time understanding what I do. Therefore this weekend I'm going to spend 3 days just writing comments. Before I do it, I thought I'd ask other programmers what information they find useful. Below is a typical class I've...

I have been creating the Access database using data imported from an Excel file and the person entering into Excel only cared about the month and day portion and Excel added the current year to the field value. I want to produce a report that shows upcoming anniversaries using a parameter...

I have a query called, say, "foo", which is just a join of tables "x", "y", and "z", with a couple of redundant index fields not included. Basically, I want to look at *only* this query, not the underlying tables. All of the fields in "foo" are of type "Text" except "g", which is of type "Memo".

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
