The problem started when the Working Folder for a project was somehow set to the folder of another project. I set the correct working folder in VSS and deleted the .vbproj files that had been created in the wrong folder on the hard drive. Before I discovered these files, .NET kept trying to create a new project with _1 following the project name. Deleting those files corrected that problem. I deleted the Virtual Directory, rebooted, and...

I use FolderBrowserDlg for user to select a folder path then store it in the sql table. I then retrieve it to concatenate in a sqlcommand text to retrive files from that directory but it won't work because the database has it as "\\Support\VMS\VMSDB" while the C# code expects to see @"\\Support\\VMS\\VMSDB" . Is there a way to fix this? Thanks, alpha

Hi All, I am using an API function, which takes file path as an input. When file path contains special characters (@,#,$,%,&,^, etc), API function gives an error as "Unable to open input file". Same file path containing special characters works fine in one machine, but doesn't work in other. I am using following API function to get short file path. Declare Auto Function GetShortPathName Lib "kernel32" (ByVal lpszLongPath As

How do you retrieve a file path which was stored in the Registry as a string without ending up with a string which has all the slashes escaped which make it useless for file IO? I can see the file path in the registry using RegEdit and it is exactly what I want, but when I use: string filePath = Registry.GetValue(keyPath, keyName, null).ToString(); filePath is something like C:\\Data\\MyFile.txt when I need it to be...

My application opens up a blank Word doc for editing. When I am done editing, I save the file and exit Word. All this will be done while the application is still running. Is there a way to get the file path of the Word document after it has been saved? For example, if I opened a blank file and added two lines of text, then clicked Save As and saved it in my C: drive as "2lines.doc". Then I closed Word. I want to be able to retrieve that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
